Sephoragate Concludes…For Now at Least
Anyway, so I spoke to the regional manager of Sephora in the Long Island area, and she was appalled at what happened to me in the store. She was very sweet and apologetic about the situation and asked if she could send me some samples. A day or two later, I got a pretty sizeable box from them FILLED with samples and a gift card. Very nice gesture on their part, but I honestly didn’t complain about being followed around in the store just to get some free stuff. The point was that ALL of their clients or potential clients need to be treated with the same amount of respect when they walk into their stores. *sigh*
Well, as you can see by the many beauty posts on this blog, it’s almost impossible not to be a makeup artist and beauty blogger WITHOUT a mention of Sephora so for now I’ll let bygones be bygones, but this better not ever happen again.

I’ve had someone follow me around in Sephora. Initially, I thought that hey suspected I was a shoplifter, as I live in an uppity neighborhood, and I certainly don’t look the part. After having spent thousands of $$ in various stores, I now realize that it is their way of sales—pushy, persistent sales. I like to browse, before I buy, so I really hate someone pushing a particular color, cream etc., in my direction. I blame the Store managers, who walk around like they are FBI agents guarding a dignatory. I’ve heard some of them reprimand some of the girls, who had offered to assist me, but I had turned them down. Sadly, when I do have questions, I can never find help.
The other day, I had a cashier, who never made eye contact, continued singing along with the music, and when I refused a bag, left my items without wrapping them in paper, and turned away to speak to her colleague.
The first Sephora I visited was in Paris, near Arc de Triomphe, and it was amazing. I loved the large variety of brands of perfumes, custom blending and European Cosmectic brands.
I will probably be too old to wear makeup, by the time these stores are brought up to date.
Hey AJ!
I know the pushy, persistent approach at Sephora and what I got wasn’t it…lol. And I get so mad when I actually do need help and no one’s around…lol.
Ugh @ that cashier!
I really want to visit the huge Sephora at the Champs d’Elysses in Paris
