Fall Beauty on the Fly

fall 1009

You don’t have to buy every single item from all the Fall 2009 makeup collections to rock some of the beauty trends for next season. With a few products that are already in your medicine cabinet and a few carefully calculated purchases, you can beat your face without beating your wallet.

1. Rosy Cheeks

If you have a pink, plum, or orange eyeshadow or pigment, you can make it work double-time by using it as blush. Should you already have a powder blush but want an update for fall, apply your blush like you normally would but add a little touch (and I do mean little) of Vaseline to your cheekbones to get a dewy, creamy version of your regular blush.

2. Dark/Smoky Eyes

You really don’t need a ton of eyeshadows to create a smoky eye. Get yourself a really good eyeliner pencil (Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes is a GREAT one–it’s waterproof so it’ll last all day even on the waterline). Apply the liner around your eyes and using either a smudging brush, a Q-tip, or the edge of a makeup wedge, gently smudge the liner upwards. Add more liner if desired for a super-smoky look.

3. Lips

If you have a ton of lipsticks that you’ve been neglecting, give them a chance to shine again by using your finger to gently blot the color on your lips (to create a stain) and then add clear gloss on top. You can also mix lip colors together to come up with hot new shades.

4. Nails

Instead of dashing to your manicurist every week, try doing your nails yourself for a change! Get a great long-lasting polish (like Sephora by OPI which amazingly lasts an entire week for me without chipping)
