Natural Hair Inspiration
You know the term buyer’s remorse, right? Well, every 3 months I get relaxer’s remorse: a feeling of guilt and paranoia as a result of getting a touch-up after a back-and-forth decision about going natural. For those of you who might be clueless as to what a relaxer is or does (or if you haven’t seen Chris Rock’s Good Hair yet), a relaxer is a chemical (namely sodium hydroxide) used to straighten kinky or coily hair. My natural hair texture is very tightly coiled–in fact I myself get fascinated by it when my hair grows in after a relaxer and I just can’t keep my hands out of it! *sigh* And then somewhere between all that new growth loving, I break down and get a touch-up (of my roots). Then I spend the next week and a half after the process kicking myself for not going natural…lol.
If you’re like me or if you’re already rocking your natural hair, check out this Tumblr account–le coil. I spotted this gorgeous collection of natural hair pics while reading an article by friend in my head (and fellow Trini) Patrice Grell Yursik aka Afrobella on AOL Black Voices. The gallery showcases every natural hairstyle imaginable from a TWA (teeny weeny afro) to two-strand twists to locs and everything in between.

Please take a moment to check out my documentary film BLACK HAIR
It is free at youtube. 6 parts including an update from London, England.
It explores the Korean Take-over of the Black Beauty Supply and Hair biz..
The current situation makes it hard to believe that Madame C.J. Walker once ran the whole thing.
I am not a hater, I am a motivator.
Plus I am a White guy who stumbled upon this, and felt it was so wrong I had to make a film about it.
self-funded film, made from the heart.
Can it be taken back?

I love lecoil! Whenever I miss my long hair I go to that website and feel inspired. I do believe that going natural is something you should do for yourself and no one else but it is nice to have supportive people around you. Fortunately for me I have absolutely no regrets about my decision!
That’s great! I think one of the main issues with going natural is how everybody else wants to be all up in YOUR decision *smh*. You definitely need to have supportive people around you
Wow—thanks! I love all the pics on le coil!
