Eye Makeup Look: Brown and Purple
While reading one of my favorite beauty news blogs, I was inspired to start posting eye makeup combination ideas for all my lovely The Style and Beauty Doctor readers. I love dishing out beauty advice and LOVE putting colors together so it was a perfect fit! Stay tuned as I give you all ideas on different eye shadow combos according to your eye shape and color.
Today’s combo is brown and purple. I love this combo for many reasons, but mainly because it works on EVERYBODY! Since MAC Eye Shadow’s are so popular (they come in a wide array of colors and textures, are super-pigmented, no wonder they’re such a favorite), I’ll be featuring MAC colors for combos. If MAC isn’t so dispensable for you, you can still join in! Just find shades similar to the MAC ones from your favorite eyeshadow line.
MAC’s Handwritten and Nocturnelle make for a fab combo! Here’s a couple of ways to wear it (don’t forget the brow highlight):

1. Handwritten on the lid with Nocturnelle as an eyeliner
2. Nocturnelle on the inner lid and Handwritten “smoked out” on the outer V–the outer corners of the eye—forms a sideways V or >
3. Handwritten on the inner lid and Nocturnelle smoked out on the outer V
Tips for your eye shape:
ALMOND: since this eye shape is more symmetrical than the others, you can easily get away with most eye shadow combos.
WIDE-SET: in order to “close” some of the space in between these eyes, use a darker color in the inner corner of the eyes. Avoid using light colors there since they’ll just exaggerated the space in between the eyes.
CLOSE-SET: in order to “open” up some space in between these eyes, use lighter colors in the inner corners of the eyes. Avoid using dark colors there since they’ll just make the eyes appear even more close-set.
DEEP-SET: since these eyes are already naturally defined, make use of highlights in the inner corners of the eyes and on the lower lash line.
PROMINENT EYES: the use of darker colors on these eyes helps reduce their prominence.
ASIAN/MONOLID: since this eye shape has no defined crease, use a dark color where the crease would go and contrast it with a lighter color in the brow bone and on the lid.
HOODED: use a highlight in the inner corners of your eyes and make use of the outer V since this eye shape can have a droopy lid and appear as if there isn’t a crease.
ROUND: in order to make this eye shape appear more almond-shaped, make use of your outer V.
SMALL EYES: be careful where you use dark colors on small eyes since it can make the area appear even smaller.
P.S. Don’t forget to post your looks in the Shop Your Stash Challenge! Show some love to your favorite beauty products and get a chance to win a makeup organizer of your choice.
