The Shop Your Stash Challenge

shop your stash 2

Back in October we discussed How Much is Too Much when it comes to having way too much of things like makeup and clothes. Many makeup-fiends (like myself) have a stash of products so large that sometimes you forget what you have in there. Or if you’re like me and have been wearing the same makeup look to work for the past 3 months (I am sooo not a morning person so I go for what’s quick and routine), then I propose a challenge: wear at least one item from your stash everyday for a month! Not only will this force you to get creative, but it will also show some love to those forgotten products in your kit.

The challenge starts TODAY! All you have to do is post what you’re wearing today and what item from your stash got shown some love. You can even upload a pic of your look from your computer right in the comments section. We’ll keep all the looks for this month in this post so it’s all in one neat place. I’ll bookmark this post on the sidebar so all you have to do is click on the “Shop Your Stash Challenge” image and you’ll automatically be redirected here. This will be so much fun! Hey, you might even get some product ideas from what others have posted. But for this to work, everybody has to really get in the spirit and comment (especially you lurkers out there–don’t think I don’t see you in my site hits…lol)

And here’s some incentive for you to keep the looks coming–the person who participates the most in the challenge by posting looks comments (extra points for image uploads) throughout the month will win their choice of one of these cute makeup organizers from Target (up to a $40 value) to keep your stash all stashed in! International beauties are also welcome to enter.

So post those looks–I’ll even jump in on the fun!

I am in. I closed my eyes and randomly picked something out of my MU drawer this AM, just for this challenge. I will be honest, I picked twice, and kinda peeked on the second draw, because the first one was a Yellow e/s, that would have been so inappropriate for me today. I forgot to take a picture and my Camera phone is not showing all the work I put in this morning lol. But anyways, Here goes:

    Face:
Revlon colorstay in Caramel – haven’t worn this in a few weeks.
Mac Studio fix – NW43 * I should not have done this, I am looking too reddish today

    Eyes:
Maybelline Stylish smokes in Natural smokes * I peeked to pick this one, lol – I used it like the instructions said, except for the highlight, I used something else, but I don’t remember what.
Loreal HiP cream eyeliner in Black
    Loreal voluminous in Carbon Black

    Lips:
    Burts bees replinishing lip balm
I had on mac oyster girl this AM when I left, but didn’t take it with me so I have on Loreal color juice in passion fruit.

I am going to try to get a photos up by the end of the day.

LOL—at peeking! I have a yellow eyeshadow I want to break out, but like you it would be inappropriate for what I do during the day. Maybe this weekend :)

Tell me more about the Maybelline Stylish Smokes–it sounds hot :)

I would love to see pics if you get a chance to post ;)

OK, So this was the best photo I was able to get. I took like 50 and none really show the colors. Anyways, the natural smokes is just that, very natural looking browns and beige. Safe, lol. it lasted all day to my surprise but nothing really special – I should have used a base to get the colors to show more. Sorry, better luck tomorrow (I hope)

I know—I hate that you have to take 50 million pics and then the eyeshadow doesn’t show up. Speaking of showing up, I’m not sure why your pic shows up as URL instead of just showing on the page, so I uploaded it here…

No pic again for me today–was in a mad dash to get out of the house (just to sit in traffic for an hour and a half) but today I’m showing love to NARS Blush in Torrid. The rest of my face is my usual line-up of MAC Eyeshadows in Night Manoevers (sp?) from Style Warriors and Soft Brown in the brow bone with liner and mascara and YSL Touche Eclat under the eyes.. My face has YSL Complexion Enhancer and Becca Fine Loose FinishingPowder.

Today I pulled out a revlon line fantasy in Plum, it is a plum colored creme eye liner. It was brand new, lol I remember buying it a long time ago, but I didn’t realize I never used it.
Anyways, I used this instead of my normal black liner, but still ended up applying the black to the top and outer part of my lower lashline. Everything else has been used recently. Oh and please excuse those horrible brows

    Eyes:
Some neutral from the coastal scents
    loreal voluminous in carbon black
Revlon line fantasy in plum and loreal hip creme liner in black

    Face: Studio fix

Lips: some random gloss from forever 21

Today I pulled out a pinky-gold pigment from Mattese (Ricky’s make-up line), Makeup Forever eyeshadow No. 126, my NARS LoveJoy blush, L’Oreal Hip Eggplant solid liner and my Simply Delicious MAC TriColor Lipgloss, all barely used since my initial purchase. I will upload pics when i’m not at work

Isn’t shopping your stash so much fun! You just reminded me I need to pull out my Lovejoy, too.

Today I showed some love to:
NARS Eyeshadow in Mekong and MAC Blush in X-Rocks with my regular everyday makeup. I’m gonna need to find some down time to take some pics (since I go through like 80 takes before I find a pic I don’t mind posting…lol)

I have the eggplant liner and I love it. Speaking of nars blushes I need to find Taj Mahal I know i have it somewhere.

I was super busy the past two morning, but I didn’t forget. I dug REAL deep and pulled out MAC lipglass c-thru yesterday. It’s probably way past its expiration date. I’ve had it just that long. lol – from my highschool or college days. Do they still even make this? All that was missing from that walk down memory lane was chesnut liner lol.

Today I am wearing MAC twig l/s in addition to my everday face. I left it home, so I’m only wearing it for as long as it lasts lol. I found my bobby brown stick foundation in warm walnut, it looks a little dark, but we’ll see if it will make a debut tomorrow

    • November 5, 2009 | Permalink | Reply

LOL @ that and chestnut liner. I think MAC does still make C-thru lipglass.

Today I’m showing love to MAC Fluidline in Macroviolet with my regular everyday makeup.

I gotta be better about posting pics, but it’s tough enough trying to get out of the house in the morning.

Anyway, I have on my usual makeup (YSL Complexion Enhancer, Becca Fine Loose Finishing Powder, MAC Night Manoeuvres Eye shadow, MAC Tete-a-Tint Eye Shadow, Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara, and MUFE Aqua Eyes liner), but I pulled MAC’s GoldenKitty/Primpin’ blush from out of my stash. I used to wear this blush ALL THE TIME when I first got it—it’s a pretty sheertone duo blush where one side is a bright pink and the other a brownish-gold. I need to put it back into my rotation!

So today i woke up sick and didn’t feel like doing anythiing. But, the world must go on. I did my everyday face and made sure to use a waterproof mascara for my watery eyes. From the stash I am wearing NYX lip spa in orange passion and NARS Taj Mahal blush.

I swore I’d have more time this weekend to take pictures, but I’m running around today and tomorrow like nobody’s business…lol.

Anyway, today I showed some love to MAC Creme Colour Base in Virgin Isle (a beautiful bright coral that looks great on the cheeks and can be subdued with loose powder) and MAC Hello Kitty Lipglass in Sweet Strawberry along with my regular everyday makeup.

Today I had a little bit more time, so I actually pulled out 4 items from my stash. The pic is a bit craptastic since I took it from my blackberry.

Anyway, I pulled out Vincent Longo Liquid Eyeshadow in Lovely Brown, MAC Fluidline in Blitz n’ Glitz, MAC Blushcreme in Laid Back, and Sephora Lipgloss in a brownish-pink sparkly color whose label rubbed off and I don’t remember the shade name…lol.

I’m going to double up again today, lol.

Yesterday, I finally wore the bobbi brown foundation stick. I mixed it with my moisturizer to use as a tinted moisturizer

Today I used a NYX e/s trio I haven’t seen in a while – Cant remember the name but is has a peachy-pink color and two shades of brown in it. Minx maybe? or maybe that is the name of one of the colors in the combo. I’m wearing it with studio fix, and mac l/s in twig

    • November 11, 2009 | Permalink | Reply

How do you like the Bobbi Brown foundation stick?

Yesterday I forgot to post, but I showed some love to NARS Lip Lacquer in Hot Wax a gorgeous hot fuchsia color and MAC’s Smoking Eyes Quad.

Today I showed love to MAC Fluidline in Macroviolet, Blitz n’ Glitz and NARS Blush in Gilda.

The BB foundation stick is great, and lasts all day. That one is a little too dark for me and used alone provides full coverage, or at least too much coverage for me lol. I think I’m going to try my hand at contouring tomorrow using it. (btw, do you have a post on contouring?)

Turns out the NYX trio used yesterday doesn’t have a name. The three colors in are Aloha/mink brown/ deep bronze. I loved it so much I used it again today, lol. I didn’t forget to go back in the stash though. I dusted off a cargo balm and used a no name plum liner.

  • November 13, 2009 | Permalink | Reply

I actually did do the contouring today, however I did not get the results I wanted. I was contouring my nose, but the foundations I used were not quite the right colors. The BB foundation wasn’t dark enough to really provide a shadow. I am confident that I got the technique down though.

Anyways today I pulled out a polish (that counts right?) I am wearing OPI You don’t know jacques – I plan to get a matte top coat to try with this b/c I like the Matte version but I am not buying the same color twice. I am also showing love to Grey-ish purple eye liner I can’t remember the name.

      Polish counts! :)

As for the contouring, if you have a matte eyeshadow or blush that’s dark enough, try that instead of a dark foundation.

Today I used MAC Loverush blush and I see I’m going to have to pull her out more often…lol.

I have a couple of days of stashing that I didn’t post. Can’t remember what I wore on whichever days, but here’s what I’ve been showing love to these past few days:

MAC Lipstick in Girl About Town
MAC Eyeshadows in Sketch, Satin Taupe, and the Smoky Eye Quad
Becca Foundation Stick in Almond (love this stuff but had been on a no foundation kick for minute)
    MAC Lipglass in Jewelbright
MAC Blushes in Frankly Scarlet, Fever, and Loverush
