The Style & Beauty Doctor New Year’s Resolutions
It’s that time of year again, folks. Time for us to reflect back on the year that passed and look forward to the coming year. I always thought New Year’s Resolutions were corny, but I got bit by the NYE bug (big time) and now I’m in the spirit.
Like I promised last year, I will also promise to help you make 2010 your most stylish and beautiful year yet! As always, you can contact me with your own personal style or beauty questions at any time.
Now let’s get into this, shall we…
1. Minimize the use of heat on our hair.
Whether your hair is straight, curly, kinky, wavy, blonde or brunette, one thing is for sure–too much heat will wreck havoc on your tresses. Limit your use of heat to once a week tops (I now air dry my hair and haven’t used any heat on it in over three months). In between try low-maintenance hairstyles like loose chignons, buns (shown below) and French twists. For shorter hair styles, use cute bobby pins and hair clips to wear your hair back.
2. Plan out meals ahead of time.
There’s a saying that goes “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. It couldn’t ring more true when it comes to your diet. Plan out your meals the night before so that hunger doesn’t have you speeding through the drive-thru at lunch time.
3. Schedule in at least 30 minutes of physical activity daily.
You brush your teeth and take a shower religiously, right? Why not get that way with a workout? I’ve already sung the praises of Exercise TV on Demand, so there’s no excuse to neglect daily exercise. Don’t forget things like walking and yard work also count as physical activity as well.
4. Let go of the logos
In a world with such endless possibilities when it comes to handbags, why stick with the same old thing? Give the logos a rest in 2010, and go for much cooler and much more unique alternatives that often times cost less than your Louis Vuittons and Guccis.
5. Do much more with less.
Like I said last year, the new year is the perfect time to clean out your closet (go here for tips to refresh your memory). I have successfully edited down my closet (perhaps a bit too edited) to only include items I absolutely love, that can be worn with anything, and will last me season to season to season. I find myself buying less clothes now–but as a side effect I’m buying more makeup and shoes. *sigh* Baby steps.
What are your New Year’s Resolutions?
