How to Transition to a Spring/Summer Wardrobe

Spring has finally sprung in this neck of the woods, my dears. It’s finally time to shed your winter coats in exchange for clothing of a light variety. But if you’ve been hiding under layers upon layers of clothing, you might need some help with your transition. Check this out:

1. Take a long, honest assessment of your body. It’s going to be showcased more in the warmer months and even though it may not be “perfect” there are so many ways to dress it so it looks great. Be sure to check out my styling tips based on your body type:

Don’t get caught out there with too-tight clothing that is just so wrong for your body type. Everyone no matter your shape or size deserves to look good.

2. Brighten up and lighten up. After being covered up for months without seeing much sun, your skin is bound to be a bit dull. Try a exfoliating treatment like LUSH Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser or Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion to unleash your inner glow. Follow with a glow-getting daily treatment like Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer. I already gushed about how much I love it in this review, so now it’s your turn to experience it.

For your body try The Body Shop’s Spa Wisdom™ Africa Spa Salt Scrub, an enlivening body scrub with exfoliating salt grains and a warm, floral, fruity scent that revitalizes and cleanses the skin and C.O. Bigelow® Lemon Body Cream, a non-greasy body cream that combines nourishing and skin-brightening lemon extracts (super charged with vitamin C), ultra-moisturizing shea butter and replenishing kukui nut oil (rich in essential fatty acids) that gives the skin a beautiful glow.

If you need a bit of color, please go for a self-tanner over a fake-bake or tanning salon. Some self-tanners to try:
Jergens Natural Glow Foaming Daily Moisturizer, St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse, Clarins Radiance-Plus Self Tanning Body Lotion, Dior Dior Bronze Self-Tanner Natural Glow Body.

Please don’t forget to remove excess body hair. Spring’s gorgeous looks will go down in value if worn with leg hair. Whether you choose to shave or wax, be sure you protect your skin from ingrown hairs with Tend Skin.

3. Take a chance. If I see more capri and tank top outfits this season, I’m gonna gag. Take a look at some of spring’s trends and incorporate them into your wardrobe.

4. Dress in layers. Spring weather can be very fickle, especially here in NYC. The weatherman may say the day’s high will be in the 70s, but once 5 PM hits, I’m freezing! It literally takes me 4-5 consecutive weeks of warm weather for me to stop layering. If this is you, check out these cute jackets and cardigans to top off your spring gear:

5. Break out your best heels. High heel shoes do wonders for the frame and add tons of flavor to an outfit. Grab some of this season’s hottest styles:
