Ask Danielle: What’s a Hard Bikini Wax?

The Style and Beauty Doctor reader Nicole recently asked “What do you know about “hard” bikini waxing? I keep hearing I should do it.”

I had no clue what a “hard” bikini wax was. Sure, I’ve had bikini waxes before, but they were all “hard” experiences to go through…lol. But upon further research, turns out a hard bikini is actually less painful than its “soft” counterpart.

Hard wax does not require a strip for removal (you know that gauze-like looking thing your salon uses to terrorize youremove the wax and hair underneath). It hardens and you can quickly and easily remove it by hand.

According to New York Back Page, one kind of hard wax is the Cirepil Blue Hard Wax (pictured above). This wax is perfect for people with sensitive skin who are prone to irritation and ingrown hairs that other waxes leave behind. According to SkinBlends.com, “The beauty of Cirepil’s hard waxes is that the wax attaches itself to the hair (’shrink-wraps’ it) and not the skin.” Also, Cirepil has managed to lower the temperature in which the waxes are applied (20-30 degrees below most waxes) which makes your experience more comfortable.

Well, there you have it! Sounds like something I need to try on my next visit.
