Review: LUSH Ocean Salt and Bubble Gum Lip Scrub

The lovely folks over at LUSH sent over some product samples for post consideration. I tried out their Ocean Salt as well as the new Lip Scrub in Bubblegum.

Here’s what LUSH says about Ocean Salt:

We make this best-selling scrub out of fine and course sea salt to give your skin a fresh glow like you’ve just spent a week at the beach. Brightening and cleansing grapefruit infusion and lime oil are balanced with nutritious and moisturizing fresh avocado butter and coconut fat. Cleanse with Ocean Salt and you’ll notice an immediate difference. We recommend those with flaky or dry skin use this once a week to exfoliate while those with oily skin cleanse daily with it (lucky you!).

I tried it on both my face and my body. It has a slight scent (I can’t figure out what it smells like—somewhat medicine-y and somewhat salty–can’t put it to words…lol) but nothing too overwhelming and it disappears once it hits your skin. It also doesn’t leave residue in your shower (ever use something and it makes your tub super slippery? this won’t do that). It also isn’t harsh on the skin—it’s a gentle scrub.

The verdict? I’m not a big fan. I kinda like more intense scrubs–Ocean Salt was a bit too timid for me. Plus I didn’t notice any difference in the skin on my body nor my face. For a product that does something similar, I much prefer LUSH Sandstone Soap for my body and Angels on Bare Skin for my face.

Now the Bubblegum Lip Scrub?

Here’s what LUSH says about it:

This one will make your lips smell like our seasonal, best-selling Snow Fairy shower gel. Bubblegum Lip Scrub is made with exfoliating castor sugar and our delicious vegan flavour to gently scrub away rough skin, keeping your lips smooth and kissably soft. Simply rub it over your lips when you’re feeling the need for some sugar.

This was right on time because my lips have been peeling because of my retainer and new positioner for my teeth. For a lip scrub, they seem to put a lot of product in the container for $8.95 seeing as how you only need a tiny bit for each use. I applied it with my finger and gently rubbed it in both my upper and bottom lip then rinsed with cool water. My lips had a bit of a glow to them after using it and they felt softer. I used it in conjunction with Clinique All About Lips and my pout has ditched the peeling. Sweet.
