Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation Review

Make Up For Ever at ShopStyle

All I wanna do is stay matte and write and read fashion and beauty blogs all day. *sigh*

Since I can’t seem to do the latter, I’ll stick with trying to stay matte.

A few years ago when the J. Lo glow and dewy skin was all the rage, you would have had to pin me down and stuff Chicken McNuggets down my throat to get me to wear a matte foundation. Something about it seemed “funeral home-like” and unnatural to me. Besides, the 90s are over.

But after having the Jermaine Jackson effect (a condition where your glands start producing Texas quality oil or you look like you did a double shift in the old steel mills in Gary, Indiana) plague my face I decided matte was where it’s at!

I picked up Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation (I skipped their Mat Velvet because the formula seemed too heavy for my sheer to low coverage preferences). I love their Super Matte Loose Powder (which it seems they stopped selling at Sephora) so I figured I’d give the Duo Mat a shot.

I love how easy it is to apply. Just a few even swipes to your face and you’re done. The sponge it comes with is heavenly, too. Since they don’t sell refills at Sephora, I’ll be stalking the MUFE boutique for some (can’t keep using the same applicator or hello, face full of germs). The finish is great, too–matte but not Casper the Friendly Ghost. My face stayed pretty matte throughout the day but I still needed to touch-up at lunch. For some reason my skin gets much oilier at work than anywhere else.

It also comes in a pretty decent shade range–11 colors from Beige Rose to Chocolate. I’m MAC NW47 and wear shade #218.

If you’re looking to be matte, too check this out. It’s definitely worth a try and won’t really kill your pockets at $32 for .35 oz of product. I can see this lasting me about 6 months.

Have you ever tried this foundation? What did you think? If not, will you try it?

awww—-sorry it didn\’t work for you—it worked very well for me. If you still have Duo Mat and want to try it again, try using a makeup spray like MUFE Mist & Fix or MAC Fix+ to tone down some of the \”ghost like\” finish.
