Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna Review

Suprisingly the Reb’l Fleur by Rihanna perfume is actually out in stores right now. Or at least Macy’s has it right now and not February 2011 like it was previously reported. It’s an eau de parfum that comes in a pretty large box with a removable outer panel (the outer panel is what has the singer’s image—you can slide it back on if you like to keep packaging). The design of the bottle itself is nothing amazing. I’m not even sure what it is exactly…lol. When I first saw images online I thought perhaps it was an “R” but it’s like some abstract black and gold design on the bottle. It’s like something out of House of Dereon actually.

No matter, the gold is in the scent. And what a scent it is! I’m no perfume expert or “nose”. I can’t tell you top notes or bottom notes if I weren’t reading directly from the product itself. This one seems like a cross between a fruity and a spicy scent. It’s more sexy than it is pretty. Almost like a sweeter version of Beyoncé Heat which I also loved. You can smell a hint of coconut underneath the first scents (guess that’s what they call top notes, eh?), but it’s not an annoying coconut smell. I can’t take true coconut smells like the ones at say Bath and Body Works. Rihanna’s coconut is more doable for me.

I’m also one who can get light-headed and some times nauseous by a scent, but Reb’l Fleur didn’t make me do anything of the sort. The price isn’t so bad either. 1.7 oz will run you $49.50 while 3.4 oz is only $10 more at $59.50. But remember these are eau de parfum. I’m pretty sure Macy’s will have those value perfume sets by Valentine’s Day.

All in all I think this is a lovely addition to the Rihanna brand. I may not like her music enough to buy any of her CDs, but the chick is bad enough for me to have bought her perfume. Check your local Macy’s to see if they have the scent so you can try it out. Make sure you let me know what you think!

P.S. Witch Hazel left a comment saying that the bottle is actually shaped like a heel of a shoe. Just turn it upside down. I did and look…

It’s totally a heel of a shoe!

Also thanks to Krissy of Addicted to All Things Pretty for the heads up that the perfume is in stores.
