Your Best Makeup Colors: Eva Marcille

Your Best Makeup Colors is a series here on The Style and Beauty Doctor aimed to help at taking some of the guess work out of choosing makeup colors for your skin tone. I’ll use pictures of celebs to help illustrate the series so when a celeb most closely matches your skin tone you can grab some ideas.

Note: The makeup I mention are colors that will go great with a certain skin tone, but aren’t the only ones you should try. They’ll give you a good idea of what colors will look best on you. Also I’ll be mentioning a lot of brands that are “internet popular” meaning that you’ll be able to check Google Images for swatches easily. This way you can still have an idea of colors and still shop within your own fave brands (drugstore, indie, department store).

Cool!

Up next is Eva Marcille which was actually requested by The Style and Beauty Doctor reader Yani who wrote in saying, “Eva Marcille and I are identical in skintone & eyes (I too have hazel eyes). Whenever I go out and try makeup products on, they either make me look too “red” or they wash me out. I wanted to ask you if you could add Eva Marcille to the “Your Best Makeup Color” series (pretty please, lol). I feel like our skintone (Eva & I) is an odd one, lol“.

I’d say Eva’s skintone can be described as caramel with very warm/golden undertones. This means she looks great in colors that have a warm/golden or yellow undertone like golds, bronzes, browns, and brighter colors (like pinks and corals) as well as those close to her skin tone (for neutral looks it’s great to have 3 eyeshadows: one close to the skin complexion, one 2-3 shades darker (contour), and one 2-3 shades lighter (highlight). Since Eva has such strong warm undertones and hazel eyes, she already naturally has a lot of coloring, it’s important to stay away from colors that are too cool. Eva often gets this wrong herself going way too cool with makeup colors. She actually looks best in neutrals, but a few eye popping eye colors for hazel eyes (like purple) also look great (see more in Eye Makeup Colors for Hazel Eyes).

Eyeshadows (MAC–if MAC isn’t your fave brand still use this as a guide to figure out which similar colors look best in other brands):

You were spot-on with your assessment of Eva! She’s a very beautiful girl, but I’m usually not very fond of her makeup…I thought it was because she wears too much, but you’re right…it’s because she chooses colors that are too cool for her complexion (including that platinum hair). Great advice, and great choice of photos to illustrate your point!

p.s. You really know your MAC products, huh!? :)

      Thanks!

Yes, Eva is so beautiful but her makeup is almost not the best looks :/

Haha—I guess I do—I picked MAC for illustrative purposes because it’s so easy to find swatches of online :)

    Hello Ms. Danielle,

Thank you for sharring your expertise on EVA MARCILLE. I have a similar Skin Tone and Hazel Eyes and clueless on the type of Makeup to wear and what fits my skin Tone. I am looking forward to trying these products you listed. I also have a small favor to ask. Can you please tell me what type of CONCEALER, BRONZE, FOUNDATION AND FACE POWDER that you would use on EVA. Also, where I can purchase it. I am overseas due to the military and it’s really tough to get good make up products on base.

    Respectfully,

    Ms. Simmons

      Hey Sirica!

Not sure if I’ll be much help because I don’t know where you live or even which brands are sold there. If I had to guess, she’d be somewhere around CoverGirl Queen Collection Warm Honey. Not sure if CG is sold where you are overseas, but you’ll have to do some work to use google and google image search to find equivalents of that shade in other brands.

As for bronzer, the CG Queen Collection Ebony Bronze Bronzer and anything around that color would be amazing on your skin tone. You can see more bronzer posts here: https://www.thestyleandbeautydoctor.com/tag/bronzer/
