Pre-Oscar Beauty Tawk

As you know the Academy Awards are tomorrow and in case you’re interested in what the stars do to prep for the biggest night in Hollywood, I have some scoop! Check it out…

What are Academy Award nominees Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis using to get camera-ready skin? (I’m using it, too except I’m not going to be on the tee vee). The Clarisonic Mia 2 Sonic Skin Cleansing System.

Viola Davis: “I found the brush easy to use and felt as if I had an expensive facial afterwards.”

Octavia Spencer: “I LOVE IT! My skin feels like newborn baby skin. My pores are shrinking. Love it.”

How about celebs like Viola Davis, Liv Tyler, Rachel Bilson, Miranda Kerr, Julianne Moore, Blake Lively? Guess what they all love? BECCA Cosmetics Beach Tint. The multitasking punch of color can be used on the cheeks and lips for a fresh-faced look.

What about one of my most favorite aspects of beauty–skin? Celebrity esthetician Christine Chin gave me the scoop on how to get star-worthy skin at the spa:

What are the best in-salon procedures/treatments for achieving smooth skin?

It depends on how much you decide to spend on treatment.
Laser (Luxury Treatment): Budget is between on $1000 to $5000
Microdermabrasion (Fancy Treatment): Budget is between on $180 to $1000
Facial (Basic Treatment): Budget is between $150 to $400

How long does it take to see the results from each treatment and how often do they need to be administered?

Laser: One treatment: Instant results after one week. 2 to 3 times a year.

Microdermabrasion: Instant results on the surface layer. It could be done every 2 weeks, depends on the machine.

Facial: Results will be seen in 3 to 4 days. It should be done monthly.

Are there any at home alternatives/products that result in a similar smoothing effects?

Prescription Retinol: Every other night/twice a week

Regular Retinol: Every night

Alpha or Glycolic crème: Every day (Depending on skin)

Exfoliating Scrub: Twice a week.

And hair? What about Oscar hair?

Calie Noble, master stylist from the Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon in Los Angeles gives his predictions on what we might see tomorrow night: “Hair is taking a very retro inspired look at the moment,” says Calie. “But with a modern twist.” That often means destructing solid, sleek styles and breaking them down a bit by adding texture and simple imperfections.

Interesting. Who do you think will have outstanding hair at the Academy Awards?

I have to admit I usually check out of awards shows usually right after I see if my favorite won in their category and will likely do the same with the Oscars, but thank goodness for the internet for the red carpet pics, right?

Will you be watching the Academy Awards? Are you planning on doing any beauty treatments while the show is on? I just got my hair highlighted (more on this soon—provided I can snap a pic of myself where I look slim and happy…lol) so I’ll be rearranging my stash to push all my eyeshadows and neutral lip colors closer within reach.
