…I’m not feeling it…lol. I mean, I knew I wasn’t going to like the color, but I AM a fan of Nicki Minaj (we have that Trini/Queens thing in common, I like her music, and she has some decent things to say to young girls sometimes) so I bought the lipstick a few days ago when MAC customer service sent me a special one-time use code. It just got here a few minutes ago (along with some cute Shop MAC stickers).
Viva Glam Nicki is a satin finish lipstick and I’d describe the color as a loud Bubble Yum Bubble Gum pink. Since it’s a darker pink than Nicki’s Pink Friday MAC Lipstick, it is more wearable but just not a color that everyone can walk around looking well, normal in…lol. This is definitely for the type of girl who is more bold with her fashion choices and just life in general. There will be no librarians wearing Viva Glam Nicki. No senator’s wives wearing Viva Glam Nicki. No first lad—well you get my point.
And though there are satin lipsticks from MAC I love, Rebel being one, I felt like this lipstick formula wanted to highlight lines in my lips that aren’t really there. I even tried to “photo shop” that part out of the lip swatch above…lol.
If you wanted to go for it, it actually can work well on a variety of skin tones though you may want to jazz it up with a darker lip pencil (like Vino or Nightmoth or even Chestnut) or punch it up more with something like Magenta lip pencil (for the extra bold).
As for me, I don’t feel like money is wasted because after all, 100% of the proceeds of every Viva Glam product goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund. I will also be going back to get the Viva Glam Ricki Lip Conditioner when everything officially hits on February 15th.

I don’t know if it’s because it’s just a picture of your lips, but I don’t think it looks bad on you. I think with a blue based lip pencil color you could deff rock it!!! I’m not the expert though! :) Goo luck!

I DID try to get a full face pic but I looked WRONG (factors outside of the lip color added)…lol. This color does nothing for my complexion—I look best in pink reds, blue reds, and berry colors :)
i LOVE the color! I’m about Alicia Keys’ complexion so hopefully it doesnt wash me out… also i really like how you added the note about the texture, texture is really important to me when i try out lipstick
ps can you do a post on what colors to go with if you are alicia keys’ complexion with dark hair? im thinking of going honey blond…

A lot of girls are searching for the Nicki Minah pink so now they will have it. But it is unwearable. She couldnt wear it as everyday make up either. Very constumy.

Satins are my favorite finishes but this right I am not feeling. :/ hmmmm, I’m kind of over having to “work” with lip colors these days if they’re not already in my stash. Thanks for the swatch! :)

EXACTLY. You said it perfectly—soooo over having to work with lip colors. I want to use a color straight from the tube and keep it moving…lol.
This is a pretty shade of pink, I can’t wait to pick it up and support a worthy cause :)

I played around w/ this lipstick for a few days, before doing a post on it. I like it better, when my lips are filled in w/ a nude lip-pencil. I even put a small layer of light pink lip-gloss to really make it pop. I can say, I definitely like this lipstick better than Pink Friday ;)
