5 HOT Makeup Looks from the 2012 Billboard Music Awards Plus Products You Can Use to Get Them

Did you watch the 2012 Billboard Music Awards last night? *crickets*

Haha—I tuned in though I did get in late (um, Ninth Ave Food Festival plus 80 degree weather equals me being outside for as long as the sun is out) and practically missed all the makeup moments, but thank goodness for the interwebs. After scrolling through over 450 images, here’s my picks for the night’s top five makeup looks plus products you can use to get them…

Who: Brandy
Why it works: Her eye makeup game is giving new meaning to “blue steel”! Her brows are beat to perfection and the bold hue pops beautifully against her skin.
Get her look with: Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow #167 Iridescent True Blue, but to get the color to REALLY pop, use a similarly colored base like Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream in #20 Intense Blue.

Who: Zooey Deschanel
Why it works: Her tangerine pout is such an unexpected standout and it really brings out her eyes.
Get her look with: MAC Lipstick in Morange

Who: Nelly Furtado
Why it works: Colorblocking pastels give Nelly a soft pop that doesn’t overpower her coloring.
Get her look with: Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow #72 Turquoise Matte and MAC Lipstick in Snob

Who: Miley Cyrus
Why it works: Her full brows, flirty lashes, and luminous cheeks were sweet enough to help offset her very sexy outfit.
Get her look with: Tom Ford Brow Sculptor, MAC #30 Lash, Benefit High Beam

Who: Gladys Knight
Why it works: The soul singer and former “Dancing with the Stars” contestant’s eyes are contoured to be damned! Adding a deeper shade in the crease and outer V helps to define the eyes and make them stand out.
Get her look with: Urban Decay Naked Palette 2

Who was your pick for best makeup for the 2012 BMAs?

Brandi’s dress is on point (as is the makeup) but I look at that wig and feel like it’s going to jump through my screen and bite me. It reminds me of an experience I had while sharing a room with a college friend during our reunion weekend. I’m very near-sighted and she wears nothing but wigs and travels with several. So one night after she went to bed she threw the one she was wearing on the floor and let’s just say that when I woke up and hadn’t put my glasses on I was sure some critter was in our room. I was about to throw a shoe at it.

Miley Cyrus should ask herself why she looks older than Gladys Knight who I think is now about 70. That look is not the business since I’m going to add her to my Lindsay Lohan list of 20 something women who look at least 45. And honestly, Gladys looks great so I consider the comparison to be kind of an insult to her.

Nelly looks nice but I’ve seen her legs and she needs to show those off. I think she’s “folk” if you know what I mean.

Zoeey Deschanel needs to retire the kewpie doll look but maybe her hair piece and Brandi’s could go out for drinks after the show. She has one makeup look and I’m really over it.

Someone should have put the kibosh on the braids back in the day b/c I’m assuming they went overboard with that wig to hide those edges…
