Me vs. Murad Hybrids Matte Finish Skin Perfecting Primer

Had your fill of western versions of the illustrious BB cream yet? No? GOOD!

As a dark skinned American (lol @ dark skinned American), I typically don’t hold my breath when word of a new BB cream comes out because even if a brand does have “deeper” shades, they don’t come anywhere close to my chocolate. No love lost though. I still have 50 million bottles of all kinds of foundation formulas peeking out of the shelves in my bathroom that I can use.

But when Murad sent over their Hybrids collection, I had to bite. They tout their ability to combine skin care and makeup into one giving you flawless skin with lightweight coverage as being better than a BB cream. I’m actually a fan of the Hybrids Absolute Bronzing Boost SPF 15 which you might remember from yesterday gives a nice subtle bronze sheen to the skin without shimmer and looks just as good alone as it does under your foundation.

But Hybrids Matte Finish Skin Perfecting Primer is a whole other story. It’s a truer BB cream than the Bronzing Boost in that it comes in a singular beige tinted formula. I definitely couldn’t wear it alone unless I wanted to have all of New York City stare at my face in confusion. And even under my foundation, my face looked a little off in color. By the time I was done with bronzer, blush, and highlight it was okay but for flash photography? Uh, hellooooo, Casper. smh

Maybe it would at least keep my oily skin matte? Can’t say that it did. It was barely 70 degrees here yesterday when I tried this out and my face was its typical shiny self within two hours. *sigh*

Perhaps if you were this shade of beige and you had drier skin that tends to get a little oily in warmer temps, this might work a lot better for you than it did me.

Bottom line: The Bronzing Boost is the bigger star anyway.
