Our Fashion Contributor Puts the Miranda Kerr Outfit We Love To Test

Last Friday we swooned over Miranda Kerr’s fly and fashionable outfit as she was spotted out and about in NYC. Great minds think alike because one of our fab new fashion contributors also recreated the look.

Celebrity fashion is all well and good, but we like to see regular women rock the looks, too. And by “regular” I mean women who are celebs in their own right, which is why I’m so happy to have Eboni here on the blog. She’s just as awesome and sweet in person as she appears in the pics on her hit blog The Fashionista Next Door. Check out her take on Miranda’s sheer blouse and cropped trouser look.

Hello, lovely people! Eboni here from The Fashionista Next Door, and I am SO thrilled to be contributing here at The Style and Beauty Doctor. My blog is a “personal style” blog a.k.a. an outfit-of-the-day blog. One of the things I love doing over at my site is recreating outfits from celebrities, magazines, and runway shows that inspire me. I usually try to shop my own closet, and if I really fall in love with something that I don’t already own, I try to find something comparable under $100. So, on that note, I thought we’d have a little fun recreating celebrity looks here at The Style and Beauty Doctor!

First up is an easy, yet polished look worn by Miranda Kerr (love her “model off duty” style). The Victoria’s Secret model is rocking a sheer start-print navy blue blouse by EQUIPMENT, and a pair of skinny cropped trousers. She completed the look with nude pumps, large black tote, and a couple bangles for an overall minimalist vibe.

I didn’t have a star print blouse, but I did have an old Foreign Exchange sheer navy blue polka dot t-shirt that worked perfectly for this look. I paired my blouse with a pair of old skinny black cropped trouser (YES! You can wear navy and black!), and my old trusty dusty Cathy Jean nude pumps, which I’ve had for at least six years…I told you guys, I like to shop my closet! I also carried a simple large black Kenneth Cole tote, but I decided to step the accessories up a little bit with a necklace since my top is a v-neck rather than a buttoned-up-to-there collared shirt.

Something I always look for when I’m scoping out celebrity looks to jack for inspiration are outfits comprised of basics, because those outfits are going to be the easiest to recreate without breaking the bank. And, this outfit is a great example of that…most of us have a pair of slim trousers in navy or black, and a pair of nude pumps. I happened to already own a sheer polka dot top, but if you didn’t already have something comparable in your wardrobe, it is an item that would be fairly easy to find under $100. Plus you can wear it over and over, so you wouldn’t be spending a ton of money trying to recreate a celebrity outfit with pieces that you’re never going to wear again.

If you don’t already have the pieces to recreate this look in your wardrobe, try some of these options…everything is under $100, and many are under $50!
