Guerlain is my favorite luxury beauty line and each season I anxiously await what beauty goodies are coming. Fall 2012 is no exception and brings us a collection that plays on reds and pinks to celebrate the angel and femme fatale that is just waiting to burst out this autumn. There are luscious lips in the famous Rouge G lipstick, a new liquid Rouge G lipstick, a dual-blush and more!
Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick
Guerlain’s iconic lipstick makes an appearance in new Rouge G shades and one new Rouge G Brilliant shade. And all five are permanent! The new ladies (colors) are as follows:
27 Gilda (Poppy Red)
28 Genna (Deep Red)
47 Gisela (Intense Pink)
76 Gracy (Brick Orange)
B04 Bonnie (Rouge G de Brilliant)
My experience with Rouge G lipsticks is that they are very pigmented, offer opaque coverage in almost one pass, feel moisturizing and wear for quite a long time. The only downside is while the packaging screams elegance with that little attached flip-open mirror, it weighs a ton. Personally I just deal with the weight because nothing makes as chic an impression when you pull this baby out to refresh your lip color–true luxury indeed. Rouge G Brillant is a formula I’m not very fond of. They are usually quite sheer, don’t wear as well and frankly you get more bang for your buck buying the $32 Rouge Automatique instead of the $48 Rouge G.
Guerlain The Lip Liner $30
Guerlain offers an additional shade to its lip liner range. Bois de Indes looks to be a neutral brown that should be suitable for all skintones. If you have pigmented lips and especially if you are dark-skinned, lip pencil is an excellent way to neutralize the color of your lips and make the lipstick pop on top.
Guerlain L’Écrin 4 Couleurs $59 (One New Permanent Shade)
A fall 2012 addition to the permanent range, Les Fauves (14) consists of warm orange and fawn brown shades. As with all of Guerlain’s palettes there is a custom applicator that I highly suggest using instead of other brushes when applying these shadows. I personally would have liked to see a more fiery orange and rich brown or deep burgundy like the leaves of fall. I feel this palette is best for light to medium warm skintones. Darker skintones can wear this but if you do, make sure to apply either a light white or beige color to your lid first before using these colors so they look fresh against your skintone.
Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss
Kiss Kiss gloss is hands-down my favorite lipgloss because it is literally not sticky, has amazing shine, is extremely moisturizing and the brush is wide enough to cover those blessed with full lips without a lot of work. Two beautiful limited edition shades are offered for Fall 2012 that should look amazing on all skintones.
851 Sable Show – Pearly beige
873 Grenade — Pearly pink
I find Kiss Kiss glosses are great to wear alone and over lip pencil or lipstick and I prefer them to Chanel’s Glossimers.
Guerlain Rose Aux Joues Blush
Now this is a unique pairing I haven’t seen before. This fall Guerlain is offering a two-color blush pan: one dominant color and another for highlighting. What a great two for one! Guerlain is advertising that these blushes as vibrant color pairing. The color offerings are:
Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait
And now, what I feel is the crown jewel of Guerlain’s Fall 2012 collection, the Rouge G L’Extrait
Billed as a matte lipstick with exceptional hold, I am really hoping this will be as good if not better than the discontinued Chanel Rouge Allure Lacque liquid lipstick. Feast your eyes on what Guerlain has to say about their new product:
“As the creator of the first tube of lipstick in 1870, Guerlain has continued to offer break-through lip innovations and this fall our Rouge G L’Extrait is the newest to be unveiled. Liquid, creamy, consistent, ultra-pigmented and velvety, this exceptional lip color is the perfect combination of a lipstick and a gloss and will ensure an incredibly sophisticated look. The liquid texture glides gently over the lip and within a few moments, the silky color becomes matte. This non-sticky, non-drying and non-feathering texture leaves your lips looking flawless for hours.”
The shades offered are aptly named after the seven deadly sins.
M06 Avarice- beige for greed
M25 Colère- red for wrath
M27 Luxure- brown for lust
M41 Envie- orange for envy
M65 Paresse- pink for sloth
M69 Orgueil- plum for pride
M71 Gourmandise – raspberry for gluttony
Considering my fiery temper and regular overindulgence in chocolate I’m definitely planning on picking up Colere and Gourmandise.
Guerlain’s Femme D’Amour & Femme Fatale Fall 2012 collection is schedule to arrive in select locations of Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and at Bergdorf Goodman starting August 2012.
