We’re a tech-savvy fashionable bunch, right? This is why I bring you The Fashionable Tech Corner on The Style and Beauty Doctor. Whenever I come across some cool and stylish goods from the tech world, I’ll share. Deal? Deal.
So first up, I recently received the cool MACBook sleeve (with an iPad pouch) from the Drake Collection from HEX. So it’s geared toward men BUT remember how we talked about finding fab fashion in unlikely places? Exactly.
Each bag in the collection features a deep-blue fleece lining interior (to keep laptops, tablets and other electronics cozy!) and a classic herringbone-patterned, water-resistant exterior fabric to complement winter outerwear effortlessly while shielding electronics from nature’s elements. I love the pattern—perfect for print mixing with your outfit—and there’s enough room inside to hold your cell, a slim wallet, and a few makeup items making it perfect to double as a clutch. $59.95 to $99.95 at www.shophex.com.
Next…you’ve seen the POP phone attachments most likely on fashion celebs like June Ambrose who were spotted around New York Fashion Week with these receivers attached to their iPhones. Well now the company behind it, Native Union, has just launched a cordless version of the phone that works through Bluetooth.
I received one of the phone receivers from the manufacturer’s PR and gave it a whirl. I do find myself not always wanting to hold my iPhone when I’m on it in the house and I don’t always want to use the speakerphone. While the sound wasn’t as crystal clear on the receiver as it is on the phone itself, it did make it a little easier position-wise especially for longer phone calls. The device also claims to reduce exposure to harmful cell phone radiation by 96 percent. $49.99 at www.nativeunion.com.
And finally rounding up this segment of The Fashionable Tech Corner is the mophie juice pack for iPhone. When I’m on the go, I always carry my wall charger with me because battery power can get drained pretty fast between all the tweeting, Instagramming, and other things I need my phone for (plus if I forget to turn it off while I’m on the subway, the battery gets drained from constantly trying to search for a signal). But finding a place to plug the charger in AND having the time to sit and wait for it to charge isn’t always convenient. While we were in Poland, my blog buddy Felicia from ThisThatBeauty.com showed me her mophie case and I vowed when I got back to the U.S. I would buy one, so I did. I got mine directly from Verizon (my phone carrier) and got the $99.99 mophie juice pack plus which is the brand’s largest battery built to double the life of your iPhone’s battery life. It doubles as a case for your phone and even has an on/off switch so you can use it when you need it. You can charge the mophie itself with its USB cord that you can either plug into your computer to charge or attach it to the adapter on your iPhone wall charger.
If I drove my car more often or had the ability to wait around for my phone to charge with my wall charger, it wouldn’t be as useful but I found it very helpful for my on-the-go lifestyle I currently lead.
mophie has a variety of products for iPhone 3G, 3Gs, 4, 4S, 5, iPad, and iPod Touch. See more at mophie.com.
