Fitness Friday: Our Skinny Mini Meals
Ever get really hungry right before you work out? Don’t you hate that! Because if you stop to eat you have to wait a bit so you don’t get cramps or something and then if you wait too long you might lose the nerve to want to exercise. And that’s no bueno.
Our Skinny, touted as the “easiest diet ever,” sent over a variety of their “mini meal” shakes and protein bars. While there’s a full description of the plan that you can read on the brand’s website, the gist of it is 4 shakes, 1 bar and a healthy meal of your choosing (breakfast, lunch or dinner). Founded by Dr. Paul S. Bradley, the idea behind the diet is that you learn the lifestyle lessons that will help you achieve your goals and maintain your weight through the protein-rich mini meals.
I’m not a huge fan of “diet food” but I AM a fan of snacks. I’m constantly on the run and some times don’t have time to have a proper snack in between meals or before a workout. I thought the bars (particularly the Caramel Crunch one in the first pic) were great for those one-off moments when I’m starving and need to be out of the house in like 30 seconds. The shakes were also easy enough to prepare (just add water and shake) though the taste is something to get used to.
I’d love to just buy the bars for one-off situations like I just mentioned, but it appears as if you can only buy them as part of the Our Skinny diet plan which depending on how much of the product you buy looks like it can get costly. If the Caramel Crunch bars are every sold separately, they’re worth a try.
