The other day when I went in to purchase Victoria’s Secret Candy, Baby Shiny Kiss Flavored Gloss, I figured I might as well buy four glosses since 1. I’d never tried them before and 2. they were 1 for $9, 2 for $15, and 4 for $20 so it just made sense to get four, ya know?
So I bought Candy, Baby because it was one of the components in my “New Nude Lip” that Alexandra Butler created for me. I used to be of the “if it ain’t lipstick, it ain’t right” school when it came to lip products, but have been recently turned out thanks to BECCA Cosmetics Ultimate Colour Gloss in Autumn Punch so now I’m all gung-ho for gloss. SMH. Candy, Baby is a pale pink shiny gloss that doesn’t deposit a huge amount of color, but a product like it is good to have on hand when you want to alter the texture of your lipstick. As is its distant cousin Mocktail Hour, a pink with silvery shimmer. Both of these glosses have a “pour tip” where you can apply the gloss on a brush or on your (clean) fingers. I like that the texture on both isn’t sticky and for being such shiny glosses, they do last a good amount of time (3-4 hours). I also love the scent/flavor: Candy, Baby has a bit of a candy/bubblegum flavor to it while Mocktail Hour is a little on the fruity side.
Then there’s Color Shine in Violet Femme and the Sparkle Gloss in well, I’m not sure what the name of this color is since it’s no longer on the wrapper. Violet Femme is a really pretty sheer berry with silver shimmer. You won’t pick up a ton of the berry pigment on your lips since it’s sheer and the color it appears on your lips will vary depending on the color of your lips. Because of the doe tip lip applicator, it takes more energy to get the product to come out (same thing with the Sparkle Gloss). The Sparkle Gloss is a sheer rosy pink gloss with silver shimmer. Both glosses have a candy scent and flavor to them.
Bottom line: Candy, Baby and Mocktail Hour are good to have as a layering product in your stash (one or the other) but I’d skip on Violet Femme and the mysterious Sparkle Gloss unless you like the look of shiny, shimmery gloss on their own. The applicator makes them a little hard to use for layering (the wand can wind up taking off some of whatever color you already have on your lips).
