10 Great (and Wearable) Looks from New York Fashion Week

FALL 2013 FASHION TRENDS

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is over! It was a whirlwind week of fashion, hair, and makeup and while there’s quite some time to go before we start to see any of the pieces from the collections show up in stores, I did want to highlight some of my favorite looks. Particularly those that are super wearable because while designers sometimes craft their collections like pieces of art for their runway shows, the average Jane just wants to look normal and pretty :)

And onto the looks…

Alice & Olivia

As of late I haven’t been much of a dress girl, but I love how this check printed number is paired with the chevron printed tights. Mixed prints are SO fun! (see how to do it here)

Rebecca Taylor

OK, so I always look forward to the Rebecca Taylor show because there’s always tons of great wearable pieces and styled so well you get inspiration for days. I love how downtown chic this look is. Perfect for the weekends.

Rachel Roy

Metallics are SO chic! I feel like you add a piece of metallic to any outfit and all of a sudden it’s couture.

OMG—I LOVE winter white! This structured piece from Rachel Roy will suit a plethora of complexions and body types. Plus it’s super easy to recreate if you’re on a budget.

DKNY

A statement coat is always in fashion. Here the downtown edgy look of the coat is juxtaposed with an 80s style business suit for a look that basically screams YES in my head.

Diane von Furstenberg

Remember what I said about metallics above? It SO applies here. I’m also loving the leather detail on the sleeves.

Alice & Olivia

Over the knee boots! Monochromatic dressing! Braided updos! Crimson lips! I mean, there’s just so much right in this Alice + Olivia look.

Bibhu Mohapatra

Yeah this outfit is a little Royal Tenenbaum chic, but a 3/4 length (faux) fur coat will be screaming to be added to your wardrobe come next fall.

I love graphic print dresses like this that create curves on a boyish frame or accentuate them in a curvy one.

I love that two colors we don’t always see paired together (tobacco and cobalt blue) are looking so regal together here. The fur collar is a great touch and look—we see metallics again!
