Bite Beauty Pastille Matte Crème Lipstick (But How Can This Be Matte?)

So you know Bite Beauty, right? The beauty brand who puts enough resveratrol in their lipsticks that it’s like you get the antioxidant equivalent of five glasses of red wine? Yeah, them. It’s also pretty much impossible for the brand to make a lipstick that isn’t incredible creamy and moisturizing. It’s like their production house would blow up or something if they did.

They have a limited edition lipstick collection out now called Pastille Matte Crème. For this collection BITE draws on inspiration from the classic French pastille candies flavored with fresh flowers and herbs to deliver a unique matte formula that provides rich pigmentation and lasting hydration. They sent over shade “Violet” for review consideration and I honestly would not have known this lipstick was matte had it not been plastered on the press release and the lipstick box. You normally hear “matte” and think “drying” but this is the complete opposite. It’s long wearing and since Violet is a bold color, even as the color wears off you’ll have a pretty stain on the lips.

While I loved the formula, Violet was a little too bright even for me, so I toned it down with MAC Prince Noir lipstick and got this really sexy vampy yet bold color which just shows how blendable and versatile Pastille Matte Crème Lipstick is.

Bottom line: If you’re a Bite Beauty fan, you need at least one of these in your stash. If you’re just “meh” about the brand or haven’t really ventured to try, I say go have a swatch fest the next time you’re in Sephora and check out the formulas.

Prices and where to buy: Bite Beauty Pastille Matte Crème Lipstick is $24 and comes in four shades. Grab them at Sephora for a limited time only.
