Fall 2013 Nail Trends to Try Now
Things that make my heart sing: new fashion collections, backstage hair and makeup, and NAAAAAAAILS! Nail art TOTALLY stole the show during New York Fashion Week and even though I’m a once-a-week salon mani kind of girl, I’m loving how so much of what we see on the model’s digits can be copied right from our homes. Cool, right? So when StyleBistro.com posted some of the details on what the manicurists backstage used to create some of the fab nail fashions, I HAD to share.

Colors used: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Collection in “Stocking Nude,” “Platinum Star,” and “Gold Roses,” available September 2013
Nicholas K
To do: Right before you cure the last coat of your gel manicure under the UV lamp, dip your tips into glitter and gently press it in so that it sticks to the tackiness of the gel. Then cure under the lamp. (For the gray hue above, manicurist Lisa Logan used Red Carpet Manicure‘s “Always Slate, Never Early,” which hits Ulta stores this March.)
Kate Spade
Colors used: Two base coats of Deborah Lippmann “Amazing Grace” (an opaque pure white lacquer), followed by a layer of “I Kissed A Girl (a poppin’ pink), and finished with one coat of “Between The Sheets” (a tantalizing fuchsia)
Zero + Maria Conejo
Colors used: Deborah Lippmann “Pretty Vacant,” a pale grey hue that’s part of Lippmann’s Punk Rock Texture collection, launching summer 2013.

It looks cooler in person, too. I have some minor chipping after three days of wear.

Colors used: Maybelline Color Show nail lacquer in “Born With It,” (a pale pink) with acrylic black paint

I think it’s called the half-moon manicure…you use those little stickers that are used to reinforce the holes on 3 hole paper.
I’ve only done it a couple of times but love the look.
And all of the gold nails(minx manicure I think, whatever they are called) had me searching for the perfect gold nail polish (and I found one that I love but of course it is no longer made. Boo!!) I was obsessed with silver nails but don’t think they look as good against my skin.
OOhhh I love a good half-moon mani! I love the idea of silver nails, but like you they’re not the best color for my complexion either but silver glitter? All the way ;)
Oh, not sure if it’s a trend but I love gray nails, and charcoal too. I used to associate it with girls who had rock, goth, or edgier styles, none of which apply to me. I love the way they look and feel like they are really versatile. It’s honestly one of the few colors other than nudes that I feel go with anything I’m wearing. I rocked my first one so hard that I used it up in about 2 months, which is insane for me.
I love charcoal nails, too! My go-to is definitely black though :)
