Feminine-Tomboy Hair and Zoya Pixie Dust Nails at Timo Weiland
I love when backstage hairstylists come up with the most quirky themes for the hair they create during fashion week. At Timo Weiland, L’Oreal Professional stylist and key on hair Joseph DiMaggio said his inspiration for the hair was “a girl who had a bad week at work and just wants to get away for the weekend and have a good time.” I mean, who CAN’T relate to that?
DiMaggio left the hair down with a messy center part, tucked behind the ears, with a really cool effortless texture. I personally love “undone” hair (as opposed to super slick and perfect hair). He used L’Oreal Professional’s new True Grip ($15 available at LPSalons.com), a volumizing texturizing powder that Joseph is just in love with and mixed it together with L’Oreal Professional’s Volume Expand Leave-In Spray to take the texture to the next level.
If you want to get the look at home DiMaggio suggests using a combo of True Grip and Volume Spray straight out of the shower on damp hair, then put the hair into a bun or three-strand braid, and once it’s dry you’ll have some awesome texture. You can also add more to the look by doing a sort of “snake S-wave” into the hair using a flat iron.
Joseph explains that if you have curly or kinky hair and you’re looking to try this out, use the same combo of True Grip and Volume Spray, but just use a smaller amount.
Then I hightailed it over to nails where the manicurist explained that the nails at the show used Zoya’s new Pixie Dust and layered shades Godiva, Dahlia, and Nyx to create a really cool greyish color. Pixie Dust has a really cool textured, matte, and sparkling finish. I got to take home a bottle which will be the next thing on my nails after I try Illamasqua Speckled Nail Varnish in Freckle.
I’m totally inspired to try the hair and nails at Timo Weiland! Looks like so much fun :)
And speaking of fun, check out the hair/makeup/nails team for the show…
