It’s ALL güd
Yes, I’m extremely corny for that title. No, I do not care…lol.
Yesterday after I spoke on the Spotlights on Careers in Social Media panel at NYU Wasserman Center and right after I electric slided into the Make Up For Ever Boutique to re-up on HD Liquid Makeup (which I SWORE I would not buy any more until I finished the gazillion other foundations I have in my stash yet not only did I buy it, I bought TWO bottles SMH), I headed to Brush salon on East 19th st for the launch of güd by Burt’s Bees‘ latest scent in their all natural line called Red Ruby Groovy.
At the totally swank salon we were given capes and escorted over to Burt’s Bees reps to learn about the line while they served lavish grapefruit-themed splashes and bites. Then we were whisked off to have our hair washed and blow dried with Red Ruby Groovy Natural Nourishing Shampoo and Natural Softening Conditioner.
I skipped the blowout because I’m currently wearing like 20 lbs of weave and didn’t want to subject anyone to the arduous task of blending my unprocessed curly hair with the straight extensions, but I sat by (and nursed my grapefruit mimosa) and chatted with the Burt’s Bees reps and watched how all the other press (ladies with diverse textures of hair) all managed to look great after treatment.
One thing I can also attest to is how incredible the güd line smells. They actually have a nose who helps develop the scents of their various lines. For instance Red Ruby Groovy has notes much just as your favorite perfume would. At the top you have grapefruit, black currant, and mandarin; at the base you have apple, papaya, and thyme, and the dry notes are musk.
Also Carly Rae Jepsen is now the brand’s celebrity spokesperson which makes me feel really excited about whipping out the products I went home with and washing my hair on a Friday night as I belt out “Call Me Maybe.” Off key.
I’ll clue you into how it turns out for my hair in an upcoming post but until then if you’re curiosity is piqued, you can grab these at select food, drug, and mass retailers and on gudhappens.com. Each product is $6.99 each (and you get good sized bottles, too).
