Prescriptives Flawless Concealer and Magic Liquid Powder are Both Pretty Gosh Darn Awesome
So in case you haven’t heard, although Prescriptives is no longer sold at counters they brand has been living at Prescriptives.com since 2011 AND just recently became the first brand to offer custom foundation matching right from the comfort of your home. I dare not speak for the brand, but I’m pretty sure SOMEONE in their head office is standing on top of a table all yelling “Don’t call it a comeback, we’ve been here for years!”
ANYWAY, so while I used to wear Prescriptives foundation and some concealers back in my 20s, there are tons of products from the brand I haven’t tried namely Magic Liquid Powder and Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer SPF 25—both of which the brand sent over for review consideration.
So first the Flawless Concealer. It comes in comes in 8 shades (or levels) and I got Level 5 Warm which is the deepest shade. It’s slightly lighter than my skintone and has a honey undertone to it making it perfect for someone around my coloring to use to concealer dark spots. If you have lighter skin and need to cover up dark spots, you may want to go for the shades in the “Warm” category which help to counter the darkness (see more color correction deets here) I used it under my eyes and on a few pesky acne marks and OMG this stuff is AMAZING! First of all it blends like a dream—like it seriously feels like silk on. Second, it covers pretty well yet looks totally natural. And third, it lasts ridiculously long. For something of this consistency combined with my oily skin, I figured I’d get maybe six hours in before it start having my dark spots tell on me, but nope! Nine hours later it still looks flawless (I just need to blot my T-zone).

A new version of this product is being phased in. Your shipped product might look slightly different than the one shown on this site.
Bottom line: It’s definitely worth a try although it may be a little tough figuring out which shade to get sight unseen unless you already know your Prescriptives shade. And I can’t even help that much like I usually am able to because I haven’t seen all the shades in person.
Now this Magic Liquid Powder? Definitely another OMG moment. In laymen’s terms it’s a translucent powder that you put on after your done with makeup and it has this awesome slight pink iridescence to it that makes your skin look freaking AMAZING.
The official description…
The Magic: Instantly cools and diffuses light to minimize the look of lines, pores, and wrinkles. This ultra-lucent powder dusts on like a mist to set and enhance the effect of foundation.
The Secret: Simply dust *magic Liquid Powder Translucent over face and neck. Wear over Prescriptives foundation to enhance the illusion.
Oil-free. Non-acnegenic. Ophthalmologist-tested.
I apply mine with a big fluffy powder brush. It feels weird going on at first because you’ll keep checking to make sure you didn’t drop your brush in the sink, but after the first few seconds, the “wet” sensation goes away. My skin looked so awesome with Magic Liquid that I will be pretty much OD’ing on it for quite some time. It’s not much of an oil-controlling powder, so if you have oily skin like me, make sure you have blotting powder or papers on hand.
Bottom line: You MUST try. I wish I could compare it to the MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder, but I can’t find mine (I might have given it to my niece). I also remember the one I got in Cajun had more of a gold shimmer though. Also, be very careful as this is a loose powder. I have this thing where I rip the entire sticker over the sifter on products like this and then the powder gets all in the top portion and makes a mess everywhere. Don’t be like me and be easy on the sticker…lol.
Here’s me wearing both the Magic Liquid Powder and the Flawless Concealer. It’s tough to pick up the effects of something like Magic Liquid Powder in pictures (for me at least) but trust me, it’s AHmazing. As you can see from my lipstick, this is after a few hours of wear. I have Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light and Ilamasqua Tweak on my cheeks. My foundation is Make Up For Ever HD.

Prescriptives used to make a Deep Translucent Magic Liquid Powder, but it is discontinued. The shade was perfect for darker skinned women. Now they only sell the Translucent shade. I wish they would bring back the Deep Magic Powder. It was gorgeous. I have tried MAC’s Magically Cool Powder in Cajun, and it is too glittery and it is NOT the same as the Prescriptives Magic Powder. PX needs to bring back the darker powder, foundation, and concealer shades for African American women. What they offer on their website are just very limited shades.
