I’ve long been a huge fan of the simple yet uber fashionable style of French women like French Vogue editor Emmanuelle Alt, but sometimes I veer to the left and want to try other styles KNOWING that Parisian chic is all me (even though I’m from Queens…lol). Sometimes you can get easily carried away when you need to be dressed up for something important when really less is more. So while digging through my closet and latest purchases to put together some looks for NYFW (hopefully I didn’t put my outfits together too early—you know, and then be over them by the time I have to actually wear them out…lol) and thought to myself “When in doubt, dress like Emmanuelle…” and then it totally all became clear.
My Pinterest Outfit Ideas board is now inundated with images of Alt and although she wears tons of designer brands I can’t afford and likely has a huge editor’s clothing allowance, her look can be mimicked with a lesser than budget like my own. I mean, I do the occasional “splurge” (like my new 3.1 Phillip Lim baby) but for the most part I’m all Off Saks, ASOS, Old Navy/Gap, and BCBG on sale…lol. If I had the same salary but lived in a more affordable city (ok and had a husband that spoiled me), I’d totally be outfitted in Isabel Marant all the time (except she kinda pissed me off when she said knockoffs were vulgar, but I forgive her in lieu of her upcoming H&M collabo). OK I’m rambling but I’m sure you get my point.
The amazing shoes she’s always wearing? While I do love a good designer shoe and own a few pairs (that I got on sale, off-season), getting anything close to what Emmanuelle dons on her fab feet is way out of my reach. I love the way some of my $39.95 shoes from JustFab work in with some of my outfits just fine…lol.
