Let’s not even discuss how I had to stalk the websites of MAC, Macy’s, and Nordstrom just to be able to get what I wanted from this collection—press samples were limited and I didn’t want to take any chances. I had to use the precision of Liv’s dad on Scandal as he hid his true occupation from her to be able to snag Talk That Talk Lipstick. But I did it and I got it and now all after the fact when it probably doesn’t matter to you anymore, I’m going to tell you what I think about it anyway.
So in a nutshell, Talk That Talk is a deep berry retro matte lipstick—meaning it has a similar finish to our beloved Ruby Woo. It’s probably the most problematic lipstick I’ve loved to date…lol. It can sometimes be uneven in application and although it lasts really long on the lips as most MAC retro mattes do, if you need to reapply (especially after a meal or drinking), it can sometimes be almost impossible to get the formula to behave. It stains the dry patches on your lips—the ones that you normally wouldn’t have when wearing a regular lipstick but because the formula is so dry on this one, it does. So then these dry patches seem to take residence on your lips so you have to completely take it all off, exfoliate your lips (if you’re out and about a dry napkin works) and then reapply to get a smooth application.
But even with all that work, I still really love the lipstick…lol. The color is amazing, the finish is amazing, and it mixes well with other colors. Below I’m wearing with with MAC All Fired Up in the center to punch up the color and I’ll also soon be mixing with Ruby Woo to recreate my fave ombré lip look.
I also got Talk That Talk Pro Longwear Lip Pencil which is about a shade deeper than the lipstick and looks SO much like Nightmoth Lip Pencil with the difference being in the formula (Pro Longwear is built to last longer and to me felt softer than the regular MAC Lip Pencil). Here I am wearing TTT lipstick with TTT liner below:
See how TTT and Nightmoth lip pencils look SO much alike? It’s like the Patty Duke Show!
The RiRi Hearts MAC Holiday collection will be debuting soon and the second I get the scoop, you’ll see it here :)
