I used to be a hardcore lipstick-only girl, but many brands are slowly converting me into dabbling on the glossy side. The thing I didn’t really love about gloss is many didn’t give me full-on color like I like (and for those that do, I might as well wear lipstick…lol) and they don’t last as long as I’d like (and again, for those that are long lasting, I might as well just wear lipstick). Plus, I went through a huge matte finish phase with lipstick and well, once you go matte you can’t really be a gloss girl (and no, lip color that goes on like a gloss but dry matte doesn’t count). But recently I’ve been into glossy lips again and usually it comes from me adding a random gloss to the top of my lipstick, but also wearing real deal gloss (in the words of Snoop “realer than Real Deal Holyfield”).

But anyway, I did say I was going to not make these posts so wordy just this morning didn’t I? SMH

So I bought L.A. Girl’s range of Glazed Lip Paints. Here’s the official description:

Glazed Lip Paints give the intensely pigmented appearance of a lipstick, with the ease and glossy finish of a lipgloss. Glazed collection includes 6 of the most sought-after, trendsetting colors this season while providing long lasting, hyper glossy, ultra rich color to lips. Extreme bright colors cool and nourish lips with vitamin E and peppermint oil.

I haven’t tried Too Faced’s Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick, but have heard these are pretty similar (sheesh, on first glance the packaging is very similar and so is the color range). I’d say these are similar to OCC Lip Tars in formula, wear, and usage.

I’m not a huge fan of the color range (though I do kinda like Blushing the most–the others seem so one dimensional to me) but what’s great is that you can mix the colors together to create your own custom shade (they’re $4 a piece on the L.A. Girl site—-maybe even cheaper in local beauty supply stores). Wear is pretty decent—the brighter colors last longer since they tend to stain as they fade but not in a way that makes it horrible to get it all off your lips at the end of the day. They also feel amazing on the lips thanks to the Vitamin E and peppermint oil.

Bottom line: Very pigmented, long-lasting glossy color. You’ll like these if you like OCC Lip Tars and want a less expensive alternative (though of course the color range isn’t as impressive).

Price and where to buy: $4 at lagirlusa.com (price may vary at select beauty supply stores and online retailers)

I reviewed these last month on my blog and you are right about them being close to OCC lip tars and the too faced melted. Close, but no cigar, lol. The too faced are a creamy to matte finish so they are better in quality….the too faced are closer to lip tar in finish without the messiness of application. And blushing is my fav color too…but in the land of drugstore lip products I think these are AMAZING!! way better than the milani lip colors that everyone was raving about, and not quite as messy as the rimmel london lip lacquers. Great review, Danielle!!! xoxoxo

OH WOW! They are a lot more pigmented than what I expected! Typically colored gloss is slightly sheer and doesn’t really last, but I’ll take your word for it! Clearly the colors look great!

Just purchased Coy Shade. Can’t wait to take it for a test run.
