If I were to count, I think I’ve bought AT LEAST like 40 Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencils. Before Perversion I was ALL on Zero. So of course when I noticed they introduced the Urban Decay 24/7 WATERLINE Eye Pencil, I was on it.

OK—so I wasn’t ON it. I actually didn’t know they launched them until months later…lol. But there I was in Sephora at Lenox Square over the holidays with Rail, a deep black-brown and Legend, a black in my hand at checkout.

So here’s one thing I’ve noticed over the years: you guys LOVE my waterline. Like probably more than you like me…lol. I’ve received so many emails, comments, tweets, etc. over the years asking how my waterline is so precise. I use Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil in Perversion. I’m not neat at all. Some of it gets outside the lines, but that’s A-OK. Why? Because I take a damp Q-tip and clean up the mistakes. I do this after I do my mascara on my bottom lashes. And voila—the waterline you guys love (See this in action in my Makeup 101 Series).

I started smoking out my waterline after the lovely MUA Andi Yancey did my makeup for our Face Flawless Skin shoot and one of the things she showed me was using a black-brown shadow as the first layer for my smoked out waterline and then layer it with a black liner. I figured I’d get Rail which is a gorgeous black-brown instead of having to do the work of dipping my eyeliner brush into my black-brown shadow and then use Legend on top of that. It looked really nice and I picked the perfect day to test out the wear—the day I was leaving my family in Georgia to head back to NYC. I’m a known crier any time I have to go back home to NYC—and it started as a few big tears that rolled down my eyes that I could easily catch and cover up to a full-blow cry storm by the time I got in the rental and got on 75-S…lol. By the time I got home which would be about 7-8 hours of total wear, my waterline was looking washed out. Just a few petty traces of liner were left.

I tried it again the next day with dry eyes and I felt like Rail started to fade pretty quickly (I’m talking like within 2 hours) while Legend seemed to be going pretty strong (could also be because Legend is darker than Rail). But even Legend seemed like it was being pretty weak.

I’ve seen reviews saying just this (and I’m wondering how I still wound up buying these…lol) but you might as well just use your regular Urban Decay liners to line your waterline for the way these perform. No need to have extra product in your stash or spend the extra money.

Bottom line: Urban Decay 24/7 Waterline Pencil is a pass for me. I do need a color like Rail in the Glide-On Pencil formula though. I feel like Demolition isn’t dark enough.

Price and where to buy: $20 at Sephora (plus 4% cash back when you use eBates)

Thanks for reviewing this! I saw this at Sephora and wondered why I needed a specific waterline pencil. I was tempted to buy it because I like Urban Decay, but $20 is kinda steep for a pencil that I may or may not need. I’ll be passing on this one.

I’m glad I came across this because I was considering buying both of these. My eyes are always watery and these would probably disappear as I apply them lol. Money saved!
