I LOVE blush. LOOOOOOVE blush. You guys who have been here for a while probably know that and I might have converted a bunch of you as well. Blush can be one of those items people are a little afraid of but don’t be scared! It doesn’t have to look like Jem and the Holograms. Oh, and for my fellow darker complected hotties, the brighter the blush the better (trust me!!!).

I recently received a few shades of new LORAC Color Source Buildable Blush for review consideration and I LOOOOOVE.

LORAC Color Source Buildable Blush official description:

Instantly bring color and life to your cheeks with LORAC Color Source Buildable Blush. These silky-smooth matte and satin blushes are paraben-free and infused with anti-aging antioxidants such as Pomegranate, Acai and Vitamins A, C & E. In a wide spectrum of complexion-enhancing hues, these buildable blushes can be worn sheer for a natural flush of color or layered for a dramatic effect. Become a beautiful, sensual source of color with LORAC.

I received the following shades:

Ultraviolet (Matte): violet

Chroma (Matte): berry

Infrared (Satin): burgundy (the packaging on mine says satin but the site calls this a matte—I’d say it’s a bit of a cross between both)

There are ten shades in total and you can see the other shades here.

I like all three but find myself going back and forth with whether or not I like Ultraviolet. It’s a pretty color when I first put it on but then I walk by a mirror later and it starts to look ashy on me because of how blue the undertones are. If you have a deeper skin tone like me I’d say tread lightly with Ultraviolet. Chroma and Infrared are both gorgeous though.

Other than that these blushers are amazing—you can vary your looks by either wearing it sheer or adding on layers for more intensity (technically you can do this with most blushers, but anyway…). The pigmentation on these are awesome and they last all day.

I didn’t blend it out so you can see the color—once blended it didn’t show up much in pictures

I’m wearing one of my current favorite lip color combos here—Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Sepia with LORAC Highly Pigmented Lip Gloss in Free Spirit on top.

Bottom line: The buildable part about them sounds gimmicky to me only because you can build with almost any other blushers, but I really liked LORAC Color Source Buildable Blush. I’m also a blush fiend so I’ll always find a reason to have new ones in my stash. If you already have blush that works well for you, you may not need these. But if you’re a blush fiend like me, you already know what to do.

I play with these often at work and I really like the texture and pigmentation. Ultraviolet was the first shade I gravitated to but I agree that it does have a tendency to look ashy. It looks much better on your cheeks than it does when I swatched it on my hand but I still don’t think I’ll end up getting it. Chroma and Infrared look beautiful on you though. Those are definitely on my list!
