Heyyyy! Welcome to yet another TSABD Edit!

Holographic makeup has been making its way through the beauty world and if you were wondering if the “intergalactic unicorn” look was for your dark skin, you need to keep scrolling through this post, boo! I’ll be going over some holographic makeup on dark skin :)

What I love about holographic makeup is you can pretty much control how intense or how subtle you want to go. You can look like your own solar system or you can have the gentle subtlety of a single unicorn tear (haha).

A few brands sent over some of their latest “out of this world” makeup options (I wish I could include more, but this is what I have) and I’ll be showing you how they look and perform on dark skin. Ready? Let’s go!

Holographic Makeup on Dark Skin:

BECCA SHIMMERING SKIN PERFECTOR PRESSED IN PRISMATIC AMETHYSTbecca prismatic amethyst shimmering skin perfector

Looks can be deceiving with some of these holographic makeup products. At first glance they can look like a chalky white powder which we know isn’t what looks good on dark skin. But when you swatch, it comes alive and is completely compatible with darker skin tones. BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Prismatic Amethyst can look like a chalky white powder but once blended into the skin it becomes this gorgeous highlighter with an iridescent pink glow. Even when you simply swatch it on your hand, you may not see it’s full glory until you gently blend it out. I have video swatches to help you see it better so make sure you check that out below.

The quality and wear of Prismatic Amethyst is amazing and what you’d expect from a BECCA highlighter (you can see other BECCA highlighter reviews and swatches here) and this is one of those products that will look amazing on every skin tone though the way it looks on will vary from skin tone to skin tone.

KEVYN AUCOIN THE NEO-LIMELIGHT IN IBIZA

kevyn aucoin the neo limelight ibiza

Kevyn Aucoin makes some of the most sensual makeup products—you can see more products I’ve reviewed from the brand here.

The Neo-Limelight in Ibiza at first seems like a chalky white powder—even felt so after I applied it on my cheekbones, but once I applied another layer and blended it out, it looked beautiful. It’s less subtle than the BECCA Prismatic Amethyst SSP but can be layered to build up the intensity. Quality and wear are great, but if I could only have one, I’d go with BECCA Prismatic Amethyst.

SIGMA LIP SWITCH GLOSSESsigma lip switch glosses

These are really cool lip glosses that offer a psychedelic effect whether worn alone or on top of your favorite lip colors. I bought a few of these and were sent a few of these. The effect you get on your lips will vary from skin tone to skin tone (and your natural lip color if you wear them alone) and changes depending on the lighting. So the way they look on me may not be the way they’ll look on you. I do like them for certain fun looks, but this would be a product you’d buy if you were looking to create a specific look. Not everyone needs to run out and get these.

I did find that the quality of the wands were inconsistent. Some were very stiff and hard to maneuver, while others fanned out and made application a cinch.
