I consider it a good beauty day when a drugstore brand comes out with a product that is SUPER similar to one I love at the department store. I mean, I’m practically L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer‘s #1 fan because it’s SO MUCH like department store brow pencils (the ones that have the mechanical pencil on one end and a spooly on the other) and at $8 vs $20, I don’t need to tell you anything else. I am someone who does value quality and convenience over price so I will of course go for the better product even if it comes with a heftier price tag. I’m not about to have to apply something with a heavy hand and add to it to get it to work like its pricier counterpart. Mama ain’t got that kind of time.
So this is a bit of a different kind of TSABD Edit. Normally I’d review a bunch of products that just came in, show you swatches, do a video demo, etc. This time around I’m talking about a bunch of beauty products I’ve finished. Now I’m testing this out—I’m not sure how effective a post of this nature would be (you’ll have to tell me if it helps you or not—be honest). Just because I didn’t finish a product doesn’t mean it’s not a good product. I am a recovering beauty junkie so I would buy a LOT of stuff because I lacked self-control (haha) and I also get a ton of product in from brands so there are products that are amazing but that I don’t get around to finishing because either it’s not something I need to use daily or because I have a gazillion others like it.
In “OMG F-I-N-A-L-L-Y” news, NARS has entered the liquid lipstick world. Except of course a name like “liquid lipstick” isn’t enough of a name for a brand like NARS. Nah. NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment is definitely more fitting.
Despite not needing any more eyeshadow palettes and also thinking I could pass because of the underwhelming swatches that Allure magazine’s Instagram account put out, I wound up biting the bullet and bought the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette anyway. I could have waited to see if the palette would arrive in my blogger mail, but nah—I let thirst get the better of me…lol.
I’ve reviewed probably hundreds of foundations over the last ten years I’ve had this blog (we’ll be officially 10 in November—sheesh, NO clue what I should do to celebrate). But today’s review is very special because I’ve known the creator and brand founder for yeaaaaars. I used to be a makeup artist and one of the things one does to network as well as further your education is to work with more established artists. About 6 or 7 years ago I drove to DC to work a makeup event that Danessa Myricks coordinated and I learned so much from that one experience. Danessa is not only an amazing makeup artist who has consulted many of our favorite makeup brands, she’s an educator, she’s a photographer, and she’s the head of her beauty empire. AND on top of all of this, she’s the sweetest person EVER. (OK and she’s incredibly gorgeous to boot) I was honored when she sent over her range of the Danessa Myricks Beauty Vision Cream Cover Foundation to test out.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Walgreens. The opinions and text are all mine.
Besides BOGO (buy one get one) sales, there’s another reason to go ham during your next Walgreens trip: the Beauty Enthusiast Program. Walgreens wants to reward beauty junkies like ourselves by giving us #PrettyPerk reward points, special event invites, and more just by shopping for the products we love at the store.
When you join the Balance® Rewards beauty club, for every $50 you spend on beauty and personal care** items, you get 5000 points which is the equivalent to $5 towards your next purchase. And what’s even cooler is that beauty not only includes things like your favorite mascaras, eyeliners, foundations, and night creams, it also includes things like deodorant, body wash, and even some feminine hygiene products. Can you imagine how many points you can easily rack up with just your basic beauty needs?!?!?
And, as part of Balance® Rewards, these points can be redeemed on almost anything, so you can get more of the things you love—like when it’s that time of the month and you find yourself perusing the snack aisle at Walgreens for instance.
