I consider it a good beauty day when a drugstore brand comes out with a product that is SUPER similar to one I love at the department store. I mean, I’m practically L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer‘s #1 fan because it’s SO MUCH like department store brow pencils (the ones that have the mechanical pencil on one end and a spooly on the other) and at $8 vs $20, I don’t need to tell you anything else. I am someone who does value quality and convenience over price so I will of course go for the better product even if it comes with a heftier price tag. I’m not about to have to apply something with a heavy hand and add to it to get it to work like its pricier counterpart. Mama ain’t got that kind of time.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Walgreens. The opinions and text are all mine.
Besides BOGO (buy one get one) sales, there’s another reason to go ham during your next Walgreens trip: the Beauty Enthusiast Program. Walgreens wants to reward beauty junkies like ourselves by giving us #PrettyPerk reward points, special event invites, and more just by shopping for the products we love at the store.
When you join the Balance® Rewards beauty club, for every $50 you spend on beauty and personal care** items, you get 5000 points which is the equivalent to $5 towards your next purchase. And what’s even cooler is that beauty not only includes things like your favorite mascaras, eyeliners, foundations, and night creams, it also includes things like deodorant, body wash, and even some feminine hygiene products. Can you imagine how many points you can easily rack up with just your basic beauty needs?!?!?
And, as part of Balance® Rewards, these points can be redeemed on almost anything, so you can get more of the things you love—like when it’s that time of the month and you find yourself perusing the snack aisle at Walgreens for instance.
NARS Cosmetics has been a brand that has always stood by not only diversity, but creating collections that transcend with every type of woman. So it’s no surprise that the brand’s latest collab with world-renown photographer Sarah Moon brings a unique approach to femininity and how we perceive beauty and individuality. Just in time for the holidays, the 25 piece collection is as dreamy as you can imagine. Inspired by the nostalgic futurism of the 1925 film Metropolis, François Nars and Moon joined creative forces to bring alive a line that is short from luxurious. The range of shades and formulas are true to the brand and the packaging looks like a work of art! Judging by the images, the colors are stunning and true to what fall/winter makeup should be – dark plums, rich reds and smoky eyes. Among the 25 pieces there are 10 gift sets – so there’s no excuse for you not to spoil your friends and family as well as yourself! It will be released exclusively on NARScosmetics.com and NARS boutiques on October 15th and on sephora.com and specialty stores on November 1st. Check out the full collection below.
Lately when I wear makeup I typically wear lashes (sounds extravagant but since I work from home, so the only time I really have makeup on is when I’m going out) so I just pick up whatever mascara I happen to get my hands on. These are typically the ones I accumulate from what brands send me which is often a ton. But for the times when I’m wearing makeup and not wearing lashes, lately I’m loving It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara (sent by the brand for review consideration).
During the past few years we’ve seen Katy Perry go from bubble-gum pop star to full-fledge diva. Her beauty and style evolution has been significant, but evidently has made her one of the style icons of this generation. Due to her vast trendsetting makeup and hair looks, it was no surprise that CoverGirl would name her one of their ambassadors in 2013. After a successful three years it was just announced that CoverGirl and Katy would be releasing the Katy Kat Collection created and inspired by Perry herself. The line will carry 12 highly-pigmented demi-matte lipsticks and a hot new mascara that will be sure to sell out in seconds.
