Welcome back to another edition of TSABD Edit!
I’ve been a fan of the BECCA Cosmetics brand since they first launched in the U.S. at Bergdorf Goodman and at the Plaza Hotel’s beauty level back around 2005. The brand started by an Australian makeup artist had quite an extensive range of shades (over 30 at first launch I believe) and I marveled at the fact that there were a number of shades deeper than my skintone—I’m typically the deepest or second to deepest shade in some ranges and that’s IF the range even goes that deep—AND that they had deeper shades and more than one undertone. I also admired the type of makeup looks you’d see in BECCA Cosmetics promo images: healthy, glowing skin; groomed brows and supple lips.
Welcome to the first TSABD Edit! If you missed my post on changes to how I’ll be blogging going forward, make sure you read it here. TSABD Edit is my new review series where you’ll still get the same authentic reviews you’re accustomed to, but they’ll be grouped by a theme. So instead of me doing say 20 individual reviews, I’ll instead do these once a week or once every two weeks and cover a group of products in one post. If a very popular limited edition product comes out and is available for me to get, I’ll get those out as quickly as possible and likely in its own individual post, but for the most part TSABD Edit is where you’ll now find a majority of the reviews on this site going forward—you can still check out past reviews here. You can expect to see TSABD Edit posts here on Tuesdays—make sure you subscribe to the blog to get email alerts about all new blog posts!
OK—I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things after being away and my big event last Saturday. I’ve shown you the NEW deeper golden brown, medium olive, and rich, deep chocolate shades Cover FX added to their foundation lineup in the Total Cover Cream and Natural Finish Oil Free Liquid foundations and now here’s the Pressed Mineral Foundation!
Listen, I know you saw the frenzy that ensued after Kim Kardashian said she swears by Ben Nye Banana setting powder a few years ago. Everybody and their mama wanted that banana powder and folks are still trying to be about that banana life. Kim’s makeup looks amazing and her makeup artists are so amazingly talented. And yes, highlighting and contouring works on all skin tones and does brilliant things for all face shapes—but we’re obviously all not banana. Yes, SO many people can get away with using banana but why subject yourself to a possibly ghastly-looking highlight when there’s so many variations of “banana” for different skin tones?
I LOVE getting ready for a date. Like LOVE. The process of deciding my outfit, hair, and of course makeup then executing it all is like a sport for me. And not going to lie, there’s been times where I enjoyed getting ready for the date more than I did the actual date…lol.
Making this one really quick (don’t I always say that? lol). Contouring though not a new technique has been a big trend over the last few years and this year especially as more brands are making contouring kits. Today we’re talking about the NYX Cosmetics Highlight & Contour Pro Palette (received for review consideration).
