It’s that time of year! Whether you’ll be hitting the holiday parties night after night OR hitting the couch to watch Home Alone for an unprecedented amount of times, one thing you need to be doing is keeping that skin together, honey. I stress the importance of skincare all year-round, but you have to think of the things you do all other times of year as prepping for the Olympics that is winter. Winter can be HARD on the skin already, but when you add all the extra cocktails and late night fetes—it can make your skin dry, look lackluster, and can even lead to breakouts. Yikes.
I’ve written before about how I’ve been dealing with the worst hyperpigmentation I’ve had in over a decade. Here’s a little quick backstory: (you can always go back and read through if you want the full tea) so around last June I not only had a bout with adult acne which gifted me with breakouts on my chin, but I had also taken an affinity for wearing baseball caps which caused me to breakout on my forehead. As the pimples went away, they left dark spots which can take some time to fade. With certain types of over the counter treatments, it can take at least 6-8 weeks before you start to notice SOME fading. And lucky me, as the dark spots would start to fade slightly, I’d get acne in the same damn spots. And then after THAT acne went away, more dark spots came. I would get new dark spots in the same area before the old dark spots had a chance to fade. It was a vicious cycle of acne and dark spots :/
If you’ve never been to London or just not familiar with the No7 brand, it’s the housebrand of a chain of “drugstores” (quotes around that because, I mean, it’s more than a drugstore) called Boots that of course fills prescriptions but it’s also in many ways like an Ulta since they sell both mass (or self-selection as it’s called at Boots) and prestige beauty brands. I hit one on Oxford St. when I was in London last year that sold both Chanel and Sleek MakeUP. The No7 brand is that perfect in between of the mass brands and the prestige brands and has skincare, bodycare, and makeup under its belt. I’ve reviewed a ton of No7 products which you can check out here.
