Dress Tips:
* If you have a boyish shape, look for dresses with details like pleats and frills to give the appearance of curves.

* If you have an hour glass shape, look for dresses that accentuate your waist.

* If you’re petite look for no fuss options that come no longer than 2 inches below the knee to avoid looking like you’re playing dress up in your mommy’s closet. Heels are your BFF.

* If you’re pear shaped, look for dresses that bring the attention to your small upper body while avoiding busy patterns or loud colors that emphasis your bottom half.

* If you’re plus size, know your body shape (you can be a plus-sized boyish frame or a plus-sized hour glass, etc.). But stay away from fabrics that are too loose and hang away from the body to avoid adding on visual pounds.

* If you’re top heavy, go for dresses that have sleek bodices with open necklines (v-necks, sweetheart, u-necks) and that have some flare at the bottom which will visually balance your bottom half with your buxom top half.

* If you want to disguise your arms, go for dresses that have flowy fabrics that drape around the arms. Short sleeves are very tricky to pull off with full arms because they often end right where the arm is fullest–instead either go sleeveless, 3/4 sleeve, or long-sleeve

You no longer have to think of 80s movies like Working Girl when you hear the word “blouse”. Blouses are a very chic way to update your wardrobe—they can be dressed up or dressed down so they’ll get tons of mileage!

Style Tips for Blouses:
* If you’re busty and love button downs, go a size up to eliminate gaping at the front and then have a tailor take in any surplus fabric. Or try No See ‘ems Patent-pending Blouse Front Closures. For other types of blouses, shy away from ruffles near the bust line, busy patterns, and high necks if you have big boobs. Your best necklines are v-neck, u-necks, and sweethearts.
* If your arms aren’t your best feature, steer clear of short sleeve blouses that end where your arm is its widest. Why? Because the horizontal line formed by the bottom of the sleeve will make your arm look even wider (remember, horizontal lines make objects appear larger and wider).
* If you want to camouflage belly bulge, go for a blouse that has extra draping at the tummy area or that has diagonal stripes or is cut on a diagonal (diagonal lines are slimming). Shiny fabrics like satin are NOT your friend.
* If you have small breasts and want a bit of a pick-me-up, look for ruffles and draping of fabric near the bust line. The curve of the material will add visual curve to your girls.

P.S. There haven’t been many style inquiries in a while (plus I feel like I do more beauty posts than style even though I *try* to keep it even). That said, if you have a fashion or style related question, contact me! Your question could be featured on the site.
