I got this feather belt on super sale at BCBG a few years ago. I didn’t have an immediate need for it when I bought it, but I KNEW it would be put to great use in my wardrobe. One thing I will always keep buying even as my spending on clothing slowly decreases (well, compared to how I used to spend) are statement accessories.
As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I’ve been on a roll this year with trying to get this apartment together. I’ve come A LONG way but still have a long way to go as well. My bedroom for one did a complete 180. I purged SO MUCH STUFF, got the floors done, painted it in a bright white shade (which is AMAZING both day and night), got new furniture, and added some other decor items to give it what I call a “Scandinavian-Trinidadian” feel…lol.
Happy Wear to Work Wednesday, ya’ll!
One of my biggest style rules is to make sure each piece can be worn a gazillion ways with other pieces in my wardrobe. Now while I may no longer have a corporate wardrobe, I still have that love of mixing and can fondly remember how challenging it can be to dress one way for the office and a totally different way on the weekends. One of the best ways to get more mileage out of your trendier and edgier pieces is to mix them in with your work staples.
Talk about confidence—I took this picture on a busy street in Harlem on a Saturday on a January day without flinching…lol
Listen, I hate to gloat about this being in your 30s thing, but gurl…IT. IS. LIT. And from what I hear from my friends who are 40+, it just keeps getting better and better. Like seriously, I wish I knew how amazing my 30s would be when I was in my teens and my 20s. I’d like to think I wouldn’t have taken myself as seriously. Sure, things aren’t all roses in this decade—things like hormonal acne, body aches, and facial hair can throw a monkey wrench in one’s game, but the confidence? My confidence game is through the roof!
I bought this trench from Monki in Stockholm last summer during their July sale. I think I paid maybe $20-30 for it though I was originally eyeing it on ASOS for over $100 before I spotted it in Monki. I also wore it in this style post last fall. I. LOVE. THIS. TRENCH. I made a boo boo when I first got it home and burned the bottom of it when I ironed it because it was super wrinkled from being in my suitcase. I like to pretend the iron burn isn’t there so if you somehow spot it in these pics, pretend like you don’t see it, too…lol.
