Vogue UK is reporting on a trend for next season—socks with shoes. And they break down how to wear this look:

* Team with bare legs and open toes for the cocktail hour.
* Iridescent pop-socks add coquettish fun.
* Be prepared- toughen simple sandals with ribbed men’s army socks.
* Get yours now from Gap, Topshop and Falke.

My verdict is still out on this trend (because it reminds me so much of my Catholic school days), but I will say to skip this if you’re petite or have short legs—wearing socks in this fashion will only shorten your frame. Also, make sure your gams are near flawless as wearing this look will draw attention to any imperfections.

Liquid Leggings have been a recent trend for about a year or so now, but I honestly thought it was a trend more apt for those in Tinsel Town so I haven’t posted about them. I was wrong. I went to see Beyonce in concert (again) this past weekend and was shocked and appalled by people in the audience wearing them in silver (as if they would later be pulled on stage to be a back-up dancer *smh*). Now don’t get me wrong, I think they look great–on certain body types. I managed to diet and exercise myself back into a size 8, but even if I get down to a size 4 you won’t see me in them because I know my thighs and their limits. So I’ve put together a quick guide on how (not) to wear liquid leggings.

Proceed with Caution…

Wearing them as pants:

Meagan Good has the type of body that I’d probably rob a liquor store to get and while she doesn’t look “bad” in these liquid leggings, there’s just something about them being worn as pants that makes me clutch my asthma pump tight.

In different colors:

Lighter colors tend to make objects look bigger so if you’ve already got a bit of meat on your legs, gold or silver liquid leggings will magnify that. And if you happen to buy your liquid leggings at an inexpensive retailer like say H&M, the material those pants are made of are not forgiving for any lumps and bumps. Plus, I’ve gotta wonder about how hot it can get in there if you rock liquid leggings in the summer

If you’ve got some lovely lady lumps:

There are so many other wonderful fashion options for the curvy and plus-sized diva, but if it’s a life or death situation and you feel you MUST rock liquid leggings, at least wear a tunic (a long blouse) with them.

I actually love the look of leggings but since I know my thighs’ limits, I instead go for a pair of black skinny jeans. If you’re like me, you’ll find that black skinny jeans (or straight cut if you need a little bit more room) are a better “leggings” option since denim is a heavier fabric than the material leggings are made of so they’re more forgiving if you’ve got flaws. Also black skinny jeans can be—-wait for it——–worn as pants!
