Like many of my shopping trips, I hadn’t intended on going into any of these stores but I took my car to get serviced and I had to run into Manhattan to grab a pair of shoes Schutz had for me (see pics of some pairs I received here, here, here, here, and here) so I hopped on the LIRR. But since I had to walk over towards Broadway to transfer to the R, I figured I might as well check out the new H&M at Herald Square (because we surely don’t have enough H&Ms in NYC—shoot, in Herald Square for that matter…lol).

I may live in one of the fashion capitals of the world where I have access to SO many stores, but I am more likely to buy online. Thing is I don’t have time to travel to the “good” H&M or Zara or wherever to find what I want and time is money. Plus it’s so much easier to price scan and find a coupon online than in store. So I sit in front of my computer (and sometimes my phone) and browse like I’m getting paid to do it…lol. But if one thing my fast-paced New Yorker self can’t stand is waiting on packages to come like Miss Celie did her letters. I ordered once or twice from Topshop.com and maaaan I swore I grew two more inches in heigh waiting for that mess…lol.
OK—so many things about this post. They say all-black is the quintessential New Yorker uniform but even as a native New Yorker, I find myself seldom wearing all-black looks. Perhaps it’s the Caribbean in me (my parents were born in Trinidad)…lol. Another thing leather (pleather in this case) pants can be tricky—in several shots it looks like I’m packing…lol. I could have edited it out, but whatever…lol. Also these pics were taken on a day when it was pretty mild here in the city. If there’s one thing I don’t do it’s not wearing the right coat and shoes when it’s cold. That NYC wind chill factor will have you all inside your feelings…lol.
I tend to shop pretty often but in my defense, it’s not my fault. See, I like to peruse stores like H&M, Topshop, Zara, and ASOS for what’s new all the time because of FOMO (fear of missing out). No, I don’t NEED to do this to myself and I don’t always buy something (despite my shopping ways I’m a “less is more” kind of girl when it comes to my wardrobe) but if I don’t look then what’s going to happen is I’m going to be scrolling through IG and someone is going to have THEE item and I will go to try and buy it and it’ll be big fat SOLD OUT. #lifeasashortyshouldntbesorough
This is my third and final installment of My Chicago Photo Diary! If you missed anything, check out Part 1 and Part 2. So I’ve been back in NYC since the 9th and the second I boarded the plane back home I had instant Chicago tabanca (I typically hear tabanca when referring to Carnival Tabanca—aka Bunji Garlin’s song—meaning the sadness and longing you feel after Carnival is over…lol). I miss it! I’m also a native New Yorker (my parents came here from Trinidad in the 60s) so Chicago reminds me SO much of NYC with the ease of transportation, the gorgeous buildings and scenery (though I would have to say Chi-town might have us beat…lol), the diversity, and the amazing shopping but doesn’t have the dense population of people :)
I’m baaaaack! My mini hiatus is over (meanwhile I posted twice during smh) and I learned that I need to take them more often. My next feat would be to try and take a break from all the different hats I wear at the same time so I really can feel like I had vacay. But alas, I’m back and with an outfit post to boot ;)
