Foundations for Very Fair Skin

Foundation can be one of those makeup items that will make you want to pull your hair out. Finding the right color and finish can be downright frustrating for any woman.

But what if you have very fair skin? What options are there for you?

I’ve put together a list of some brands who keep very fair or porcelain skin ladies in mind when they make their foundations. Check it out:

(in no particular order)

Becca Foundation Stick in Meringue, Parfait, Sherbert, Torrone, Praline, Biscuit
Face Atelier Ultra Foundation in Zero Minus, Porcelain
Illamasqua Light Liquid Foundation in LF 115, LF 133, LF 135
Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation in RF 100, RF 105, RF 115
Illamasqua Cream Foundation in CF 100, CF 110, CF 120, CF 133
Make Up For Ever HD in 107, 110, 115
Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation in No. 15, 20, 25, 30
Make Up For Ever Face & Body Liquid Makeup in Pink Porcelain 38
NARS Sheer Matte (or Sheer Glow) Foundation in Siberia, Deauville, Fiji, Ceylan
MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC15, NW15, NC20, NW20
MAC Full Coverage Foundation in White, NC15, NW15, NC20, NW20
MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation in NC15, NW15, NC20, NW20
MAC Select SPF 15 in NC15, NW15

Finding your perfect shade can be as simple (or as hard) as knowing your undertones and skin type. Common undertones found in very deep skin are blue, red, and olive. For a guide on how to choose foundation, check out Foundation 101.

I'd also recommend Chantecaille Future Skin in Porcelain. If you're very pale you can just use the Porcelain shade, or you can mix it with the next shade up depending on your skintone.

I am yellow toned, so I mix a tiny bit of Camomile with Porcelain. If you are pink toned, use Ivory, if neutral use Alabaster, if very pale just use Porcelain on it's own.

I would be most interested in hearing more about foundation for fair skins. In fact, I have some problems with the fact that most foundations for fair skins cater to pink undertones, sometimes to warm ones. It’s so rare to find a foundation for fair skins with neutral undertones. So far I’ve found only YSL Teint Resist 01 which disappears on my skin. However I need some more coverage on my cheeks… at this point I don’t know whether I should search for another foundation or for a proper concealer (the one I use for under my eyes – perfect for the job – isn’t good for my red cheeks; and the green concealer I’m using isn’t covering enough). Alas, what do I do?
