What I Bought This Weekend

Happy Monday, folks!

This weekend I met up with my homey web designer du jour, Gigi (who also has a cool new Youtube channel you should check out) and her homey for a Saturday filled with NYC shopping. Our trip took us to Sephora Union Square, the Make Up For Ever Boutique, Loehmann’s, and eats at our fave comfort food spot, Cafeteria. A great time was had by all.

So what did I get?

Honestly, not much! After swatching a bit of my makeup kit and collection on Friday night, I realized that I don’t really “need” much more makeup…lol.

But I did get…

Urban Decay Lip Junkie in “Heavy”, a pretty and great smelling pinky mauvey brown color with very slight shimmer. It’s a gorgeous neutral color that can be worn sheer or you can layer it to make it a bit more opaque.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in “Rockstar”, a universally flattering dark purple with slight shimmer. It comes in eyeshadow form as well, but only in the coveted Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol III and since I didn’t need another set of eyeshadows, I decided to go with the liner instead. UD 24/7 liners are waterproof and provide all day wear even on the waterline. I think they’re really great, but my heart is with Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes for waterproof pencils.

Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix, which I initially called the MUFE version of MAC Fix+ before actually buying it but then my girl Lipstick Fashion told me it is soooo not. But for good reason. I’ve loved Fix+ for years because of it’s radiance-adding qualities especially when working with powder products (goodbye “powder face” foundation) but Lipstick reminded me that it’s mostly glycerin which means it can’t really “hold” makeup. She swears by MUFE Mist & Fix so I knew I needed it. I’ll test it out all this week and will report back. If all works out well, I may need to go back and get another one for my kit.

Make Up For Ever Compact Refills: I am currently head over heels in love with MUFE Duo Mat Powder Foundation and in lust with the makeup sponge it comes with. It’s practically the smoothest thing that has ever touched my face (aside from the time I was eating some really good red velvet cake and some got on my face). Since you cannot keep a makeup sponge for a long period of time (otherwise oils and bacteria will take over), I decided to pick up two more refills.

Make Up For Ever Super Matte Loose Powder in #56 (I’m NW 47 for reference): I seriously L-O-V-E love this powder as it helps tremendously in the summer with preventing shine. I would use it to set my liquid and stick foundations, but then as it always happens when you love something, Sephora stopped selling it. Grrrr. Luckily the MUFE boutique still does and I was able to pick this up as a backup.

Where to Buy:

And because my makeup pal Lipstick Fashion put me onto an Illamasqua sale asos.com was having, I ordered:

Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Unrequited, described as a baby pink. Got this for $10.11–it’s normally $24.
Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Promise, described as a petal pink. Got this for $16.85–it’s normally $24
Illamasqua Lipstick in Ignite, described as a matte reddish orange. Got this for $8.43—it’s normally $22
Illamasqua Lipstick in Diablo, described as a matte dark wine red. Got this for $8.43—it’s normally $22

Hmm—maybe I got a bit more than “not much”…lol.

Anyway, what did you get or do this weekend?

son you got some goodies! let me know what you think of mist n fix! the fix+ is still straight for dealing with pigments and glitters and what not as a mixing medium, but it doesn't hold me down, nah mean?lol Glad you found those refill things!
