Your Best Makeup Colors: Lauren London

Share this post:

Your Best Makeup Colors is a series here on The Style and Beauty Doctor aimed to help at taking some of the guess work out of choosing makeup colors for your skin tone. I’ll use pictures of celebs to help illustrate the series so when a celeb most closely matches your skin tone you can grab some ideas.

Note: The makeup I mention are colors that will go great with a certain skin tone, but aren’t the only ones you should try. They’ll give you a good idea of what colors will look best on you. Also I’ll be mentioning a lot of brands that are “internet popular” meaning that you’ll be able to check Google Images for swatches easily. This way you can still have an idea of colors and still shop within your own fave brands (drugstore, indie, department store).

Cool!

If you’re itching to see other complexions, check out: Best Makeup Colors for Every Skin Tone.

Up next is Lauren London.

I’d say Lauren London’s skintone can be described as tan with neutral undertones. From looking at pictures of her, I don’t really see her as true warm nor true cool. This means she looks great in colors that have a neutral or beige undertone like browns, purples/berries, and bronzes (though she can get away with also wearing colors that on both the warm and cool side) and brighter colors (like pinks and corals) as well as those close to her skin tone (for neutral looks it’s great to have 3 eyeshadows: one close to the skin complexion, one 2-3 shades darker (contour), and one 2-3 shades lighter (highlight). When creating a beautiful makeup look, even if you love neutrals, add in at least one “bright” (usually blush) to really make your look pop.

Eyeshadows (MAC–if MAC isn’t your fave brand still use this as a guide to figure out which similar colors look best in other brands):

If you are looking for a good WATERPROOF foundation for this color skintone – TRY:
    – Maybelline Super Stay 24 hour Makeup (liquid) — color: Classic Beige (if you are ONE shade lighter & have more yellow undertones in your skin)
    – Maybellline Super Stay 24 Housr Makeup (liquid) — color: Natural tan (if you have more orange undertones in your skin)

I personally have found that I get the best shade for my skin tone by mixing Classic Beige & Natural Tan together – equal amounts of both

Hope this help anyone looking for a waterproof foundation that will hold up well through the humid summers, rainy springs & fall weather, and snowy winters!

    This made my day (:
Do you know which haircolors (in general) would look nice on her skin (since she is neither warm nor cool)?

    • Danielle says:

Glad it could help! I’ve never seen her rock a color that didn’t go well with her coloring. She seems to be a fan of black (though not jet black as it can be a bit harsh) so can’t go wrong there. Chestnut browns (alone or with honey or auburn highlights) look great as well. Reds that read more on the brown end will look nice as well.

Are you getting your hair colored? What were you thinking of getting?

      • Amia T. says:

Yes I was. In the winter I get really light (like the second picture you posted) and the darker colors I wear wash me out. I was considering a red. I am in love with Blake Lively’s red (but I’m not sure if it is too light, is it). I also like Emma Stone’s red colors too.

Something…lighter than I usually stick too (which are the colors you named). What do you think?

        • Danielle says:

          This Blake Lively red?

I think it would be too light. (click to enlarge)

I think something with a bit more brown in it would look great for your complexion. Like this Tyra Banks color (ignore the style itself…lol)

Or even a Wine Brown–Clairol sells some nice semi-permanent colors in the Beautiful Browns series.

But if your hair color now is dark, you’ll have to get it lifted for a vibrant red. You’ll have to take care of your hair like it’s an infant for that double process especially if you heat style often or use any other chemicals.

I’d love to see what you do with your hair! Keep me posted—and let me know if I can be of additional help :)

          • Amia T. says:

Lol, Tyra’s hair color is mine now (:

What would you recommend for a redhead look?

            Is Christina Hendrick’s too light?
            What about Emma Stone?

P.S. Sorry to hamper you with soooo many questions, lol.

            • Danielle says:

No worries—I like questions! Want you to get a nice color :)

I like this CH color and think it would look great on your complexion

I thought Emma’s was too light, but this CH color—YESSSSS! lol
