Just go to sephora.com/friends, enter your email, and you’ll get a one-time use code to use which expires 11/2/11.

Tell me what you get!

That time of year is upon us, beautiful ones! Sephora’s Friends and Family event hits October 20th (that’s next week Thursday!). From 10/20 thru 11/2, you’ll be able to shop Sephora.com/friends and receive 20% off your purchase. More details go here.

Sephora is clearly a beauty girl’s dream store, but can admittedly be intimidating because of the thousands of products offered. So to help anyone clueless on what to get, here’s a list of my must-haves: products I’ve tried and loved over the years.

You can click on any of the images in the widget above (they go through an affiliate link where the site makes a small commission) and add it to your shopping cart on Sephora.com to get your list ready for the sale.

SKINCARE

Clarisonic Skincare Brush: If you’ve been dying to get your hands on the revolutionary tool that gets skin 6 times cleaner than your bare hands thus helping your skincare products more effective, Sephora FF is the time to get it. 20% off gets you the Mia for $95 (reg $119) and the Plus for $180 (reg $225). Need an overview of the different Clarisonic tools? Click here.

A night creme: If you’re not moisturizing at night, put it in your routine with a new night creme. While the one you ultimately choose will depend on your skincare needs, I can recommend Clinique Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer (comes in different formulas for different skin types) as a start for just about anyone looking for a basic night creme chocked full of antioxidants. It helps prevent future skin damage. I also like Murad Resurgence Age-Balancing Night Cream. It contains multitasking retinol which helps to fight acne, wrinkles, and give skin a radiance over time.

Daytime moisturizer: Looking for a moisturizer that moisturizes well without feeling oily? Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer contains antioxidants like Vitamin C Ester and Alpha Lipoic Acid as well as skin plumping DMAE. It works on all skin types and has been a favorite of mine for over six years. If you have sensitive, dry skin try Perrione MD Hypoallergenic Nourishing Moisturizer. I use this when it gets super cold in the winter and it leaves my skin supple and moisturized.

MAKEUP

Blush: Definitely check out NARS Blush. They’re very pigmented so they last all day and come in a range to suite every single skin tone. Need help picking one out? Check out NARS Blush Guide for Every Skin Tone. I’m also in love with both Illamasqua Powder Blusher and Creme Blusher. The powder range comes in the most gorgeous colors with a matte finish (perfect for all skin types) while the creme range gives such a gorgeous flush to the cheeks.

Foundation: Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation comes in a great range of shades and gives great coverage while still feeling lightweight. Make Up For Ever Face and Body Liquid Makeup is great for both the face and covering things like varicose veins on the body. It gives a semi-matte finish that looks totally natural.

For a very natural finish that provides light coverage, I love Clinique Perfectly Real Makeup (see my review here).

Need more coverage with a matte finish? Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet is a great choice for oilier skins that require a little more cover.

Make Up For Ever Duo Mat Powder Foundation is a great compact powder foundation for oilier skins. Use it on its own or use it to set your liquid foundation. You can also use it for touch-ups throughout the day.

Bronzer/Luminizer: Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder is an excellent range for all skin tones (comes in eight shades) whether you want a natural glow or more of a bronzy tan. Too Faced Caribbean In A Compact – Sun Bunny is a pretty semi-matte bronzer with very slight shimmer. It’s gorgeous on medium through olive skin tones as a bronzer and beautiful as a highlight on darker skin. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder gives a “I’ve been vacationing in Saint Tropez” look on lighter skin tones. Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder also makes a great range of matte bronzers for most skin tones.

NARS The Multiple is an awesome product because it comes in shades that can be used to luminate or bronze the skin. Copacabana, Maldives, and South Beach are pretty highlighters for cool toned skin while Palm Beach, Lamu, and Laguna are great for warm toned skin.

theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer is one of the prettiest highlighters I’ve seen for lighter skin tones. It’s sister Betty-Lou Manizer is great as a bronzer for fair skin tones or as a highlighter for darker skin tones.

Eyeshadow: For super pigmented eyeshadows that come in a range of colors from neutrals to bright, I can vouch for NARS Duo Eyeshadow and Single Eyeshadow, all Urban Decay Eyeshadows, Make Up For Ever Eyeshadow, Stila Eyeshadow, Sephora Collection Eyeshadows, and tokidoki Eyeshadows.

Eyeliner: For waterproof liner that stays put even in the waterline, I love Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil, Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes, Make Up for Ever Aqua Liner, Urban Decay Liquid Liner, Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream, and Sephora Collection Flashy Waterproof Liner.

Mascara: If Sephora has Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils Shocking in stock in time for FF, get it! See my review here.

Lip Gloss: I don’t often wear gloss, but when I do I turn to pigmented ones like Dior Addict Ultra Gloss, Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss, Yves Saint Laurent GOLDEN GLOSS Shimmering Lip Gloss, Givenchy Gloss Interdit Ultra-Shiny Color Plumping Effect, Guerlain KissKiss Gloss, and technically a gloss but dries matte like a lipstick Stila Long Wear Liquid Lip Color (my fave color is Fiery, a bold blue-red).

Lipstick: My all-time favorite lipstick formula at Sephora is Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture–they’re creamy, shiny, and are seriously long-lasting. I also love Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense (comes in a variety of shades and finishes), and Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte (super creamy and long-lasting).

HAIR

Deep Conditoners: Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment (smells funny but is great for dry, damaged hair), Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask (love this for my curls—gets my hair soft and love how my curls are defined after using it), Phytospecific Multi-Regenerating Creme Bath (loved this on my relaxed hair–got it super soft and shiny), Carol’s Daughter Tui Moisturizing Hair Smoothie (gets curls and transitioning hair soft and manageable)

Styling, etc.: Ojon Dry Recovery™ Revitalizing Moisture Mist (perfect for moisturizing dry relaxed or straight hair without weighing it down), Rene Furterer Naturia Dry Shampoo (great for oily hair, refreshing a style after the gym, extending a blowout, and great to soak up accidental product spillage on the hair), Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Butter (love using this while my hair is still damp to moisturize and then seal with coconut oil), PhytoSpecific PhytoRelaxer (if I were still relaxing my hair, I’d use this—it’s pricey but loved how it straightened my hair while leaving it full of body unlike other relaxers that would leave my hair limp).

  6. NeicyRox says:

I’m sure only a fellow junky like myself really appreciates this day! I’ve been sending myself emails with lists of things to check my collection for for FF! Definately getting more of my fav When Hope is Not Enough (instant, long, love). I’ve been thinking about getting Gucci’s Guilty, but IDK…I’m bouncing in my seat; I LOVE this sale! :)

  7. hehe says:

I really wish the sale was in store as well.

  8. Joanne_ says:

I’m looking forward to this sale! I’m gonna have to take a stroll through the store to see what works for me so I have my list already. LoL
@NeicyRox, u should def get Gucci Guilty, it smells so sultry!! I jus may get my own now that u mention it!

  9. Bree says:

I really want to get the makeup forever duo mat powder when the sale starts. Would the 216 match a nc50? or would the 218 match better? I can’t go to sephora to get matched cause its to far from where i live.

  10. Kimberlie Clarke via Facebook says:

Sephora is saying on FB that the sale is only open to friends & family of employees. Was that to throw people off? This is a mess lol. People are cussing them OUT!

  11. lol—I think people were confusing the in-store passes that Sephora employees were given to hand out to their friends and family. They were going HAM right…lol.

  12. I mean confusing the in-store passes with the online code.

  13. But corporate confusion is sooo something I can relate to. Almost every bank I’ve worked for had people who had not a clue what was going on. :x

  14. Kimberlie Clarke via Facebook says:

Well whoever runs their FB needs to be clued in. Cuz she was straight up telling folks that ONLY employees could give u the discount code & that other sales for the public were coming up in November. People cussin and smiting Sephora to be DAMNED and that fool still didn’t clarify! Maybe they didn’t want their site to crash like NYX’s did lol

  15. Kimberlie Clarke via Facebook says:

As long as I get my Cover FX mineral powder and my Nars blush palette, I’m good

  16. lmaooo! I don’t know, that was a mess. But since I saw the website (sephora.com/friends) had a disclosure on the bottom that didn’t specify it was only for friends and family and no sephora employee I knew had an online code to give out, I figured we were good for the sale. And if not, I still needed Perricone cleanser, Ole Henriksen makeup wipes, and the like to get…lol.

  17. but maaaan does makeup bring out the best (and worst) in some of us…lol

  18. ooh–I wanted that blush palette but already have most of the blushes in it. grrrr. You WILL LOVE it :)

  19. Kimberlie Clarke via Facebook says:

Yanno! I was HEATED during that NYX debacle. Just so happens our phone service went out & I had to go to my sister’s to use the internet. Couldn’t get on ALL DAY. Then when I went to the library & got my cart filled I couldn’t check out. Then they gave some BS 50% off code. I used it then cancelled my order. I was so disgusted. But women AND MEN were acting like they would commit suicide over that $1.20 make-up!

  20. lmaoooo! word! people were going nuts…lol. I’m surprised companies still keep their walls open.

  21. Carolina Polanco via Facebook says:

    Yes!!! Can’t wait

  22. what do you plan on getting, Carolina Polanco?

  23. Carolina Polanco via Facebook says:

Not sure yet…so many options…but I want to try some of the moisturizers you recommended :)

  24. cool! can’t wait to hear about your haul :)

  25. califabulous says:

oooh I must online shop ASAP! what about nars albatross as a highlighter for NC50/NW43? others are raving about dior amber diamond. whats a girl to do? and i think its time I got sun bunny…a bronzer or highlighter? and if I get this do I need albatross? lol i need a consultation :)

    • Danielle says:

Sun Bunny will be a gorgeous highlighter! Albatross is different though since it’s more of a white gold shimmer while both sides of Sun Bunny are more golden bronze. I have both, but I’m a junkie…lol. I’d say go with Sun Bunny since it’s almost like having two products in one. I’ve never tried Dior Amber Diamond.
