Welcome to the first episode of “10 Minutes with Danielle!” I came up with this little segment on the site because there are times when I want to talk about a product, but it isn’t necessarily something where I need to get long-winded like I do in a full review. Or there’s something going on during my weekend travels or day-to-day work life I want to discuss that doesn’t need it’s own post. I have a personal blog called Danielle from Queens, but haven’t updated the poor thing in ages. So 10 Minutes with Danielle is born!
So I’m back home in NYC after nearly two months of being in Georgia (since I’m a freelance writer now and have awesome family, I don’t necessarily need to be in one place to work) and readjusting myself to life in Queens (I got home Saturday a little before midnight and was already at Aveda Natural Look getting my brows threaded with Rajni early Sunday afternoon…lol). Since I haven’t been home, I came home to a series of packages from various brands that sent some pretty cool stuff I’d like to review, so stay tuned. Since I’m getting my hair done on Tuesday (with Gabrielle Corney–LOVE her!!), I decided to give Streekers Wild Weekend, temporary hair color that you just comb-in and wash right out, a whirl. Streekers come in several amazing colors and the brand’s PR sent over Green for me to try. It’s best on lighter hair (in fact the package specifically states it won’t show on dark hair), but of course I tried it anyway…lol. I got a nice little hint of color, but I felt like it made my hair a little stiff so I was right in choosing to try it out while my hair is “dirty.”
It’s really fun to play with though as I do like the idea of a bold pop of color—in 2011 I bought some purple human hair clip-ins from Sally Beauty Supply that were pretty cool.

And while we’re on these pictures, did you check out my lip color? It’s Tom Ford Deep Mink. When I was putting together my post on 5 Olivia Pope Inspired Mauve-y Pinks, I had considered it but since Nordstrom is a bit of a car ride from Acworth, I just settled on what I found in Town Center Mall. But the other day I was hanging with my niece (seriously CANNOT believe she’s 18 and driving and stuff—I remember when my sister brought her home from the hospital!) at Lenox and I TRIED to breeze through Neiman Marcus without stopping at the beauty counter, but on the way out of the mall I remembered I wanted to check out Deep Mink. I didn’t set out to buy it, I just wanted to see the color again, but the really nice saleswoman asked me if I wanted to try it on, so I did, not realizing what time it was. She also showed me a gorgeous gloss (which I’ll have to get into later because it’s still in its box unopened SMH) when the lights went out in the store. I totally forgot Neimans closes earlier than the rest of the mall. I hated that I took up this woman’s time right before closing so I bought both the lipstick and the gloss. *SIGH* I adore the color though. It goes on nice and creamy, but mine has a weird smell to it. And after a few hours of wearing it, it gets a little matte and a little dry. But since I’m not trying to wreck the woman’s commission (and besides there’s no Neiman Marcus in NYC and if I drive to Short Hills in Jersey or White Plains, I may not return), I’ll be rocking with it.
And can I say how packing up two months of stuff is super stressful? No clue why I brought so many shoes with me AND I added to it with buying more pairs during my Georgia stint, but between that and the new clothes and makeup I acquired either through me buying or them being sent to me, I had a sh*tload of extra stuff that wouldn’t fit in my suitcases. I didn’t want to ship anything because I have a few appointments this week and didn’t want to NEED something that I had shipped (you know how that is). So I had to make a run to Walmart at like 12:30 A.M. to get another suitcase, but tell me why I get there and get on line to buy the suitcases and realized I left my wallet at my sister’s house. Grrr. I had to drive back, pass by a GANG of some ruthless looking deer, and then when I finally got back, the suitcases I bought were too small. I wound up having to go back the next day and buy a bigger one. Needless to say with all that running back and forth and bending down to pack and unpack, my back took a hit. So I rubbed a little Topricin on it and went to bed.
I felt so much better in the morning!
So I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials for the new Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Lipsticks. I wanted to check it out because that Brazen Berry looks all types of awesome. But it was like NO WHERE to be found (OK, I only checked a few stores, but still). Ulta in Queens was bare (as you can see pictured above) and I passed by CVS in Briarwood, Fresh Meadows, and St. Albans and they didn’t even have the display. Walgreens had a display but was bare just like Ulta. One of my Instagram buddies chimed in and said many drugstores are flipping seasons so it may take time for them to show up. So I’ll wait, but watch me forget. *sigh*

$300!?! lol, somebody has some explaining to do! that Tom Ford liipstick looks lovely, have you seen the cover of Entertainment Weekly with J-Hud et al? i think it was released about three weeks ago, well, anyway, as soon as I saw the cover I noticed how lovely her nude lip was and to my surprise EW mentioned all the shades the starlets were wearing on the cover! J-Hud’s was also a Tom Ford color, can’t remember the name, lol But i say all that to say well, it’s a nice color! lol Oh, Brazen Berry is such a nice lip color,i finally got my hands on one this past weekend. every time i passed a beauty aisle they were all swatched :( when you find it let us know how you’re liking it! i know you love your berry lipsticks! :)

I haven’t seen the cover of EW yet, but I do follow her makeup artist Tia Dantzler on IG (she’s sooo sweet) so I’ll have to see if she posted any behind the scenes stuff. It might have been Deep Mink that she wore or maybe Coco Ravish or Sable Smoke. I found the Maybelline lipsticks in my local Rite Aid but ALL the Brazen Berry shades were gone. grrrr…lol
I like this new segment! You’re already my BFF in my head so know this is great. And I’m hoping people in Wisco aren’t to hip to those lipsticks yet cause I am def hitting Walgreens this afternoon!

I found the lipsticks in my local Rite Aid but the one I really wanted was gone :(

Isn’t Autumn Punch amazing??? It’s what drew me to wearing more nudes and pinks! I haven’t worn a bold lip in two months!
What’s the makeup in the picture with the purple clip in? You look amazing in that picture…did you take that with a cell phone? I look like a beast if I try to use a cell phone camera on myself. Absolutely hideous.

Thanks!!! The picture was taken in 2011 (with my iPhone), so I’m not 100% sure of what I used. The lip is either Fashion Fair Plum Passion or Milani Berry Rich. The cheeks look like they could be from the Sleek MakeUP Blush by 3 in Pink Sprint palette with I think Estee Lauder Illuminating Powder Gelee on top. Eyes are lined with either Urban Decay Perversion or Make Up For Ever Mat Black.
