For summer Estée Lauder brings us a color and fragrance collection inspired by the golden sands, flourishing palm trees, and exotic elements of a remote Caribbean paradise. I literally gasped when I opened the press box of samples they sent over for review—I was excited to see another Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée in the mix (I almost always buy them when they’re in a collection) and stoked to see a deep shade of bronzer.

I received a few products from Estée Lauder and here are my thoughts…
I loved how pigmented the Pure Color Gelée Powder Eye Shadow Palette in Batik Sun is! Though I always wear a base under my shadows and suggest you do, too, when I test shadows I do so without one just to see how they stand on their own. I got an unbelievable six hours without fading on a day when I had to run errands (I had to return samples to showrooms that I borrowed for my TV segment). I also love the pairing of colors and that they will work on a wide range of skin tones. The teal color would look exceptionally well with a fresh summer tan :)
Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée in Heat Wave was another great product. Powder Gelée is a hybrid of a powder, gel, and liquid product all in one. Heat Wave has a metallic buildable finish but what’s amazing about it is as you sheer it down, you get a rich glow without a ton of shimmer. I loved this as a cheek highlight and it would also look amazing after a tan.
It’s always so hard for me to pick up the effects of a highlighter I love in pics, but you really have to trust me on how beautiful this is on the skin.
Though Hot Spell (a bold coral cream) is the only Pure Color Nail Lacquer in the collection, I’m also super excited about Diabolique (a coffee brown cream) and So Vain (a cafe au lait with slight gold shimmer). I’m dedicated to my weekly salon manicures and have some other nail colors already lined up for upcoming appointments, but expect to see these on my Instagram in the near future. Rest assured, I have never had an issue with any Estée Lauder Nail Lacquers I’ve tried before. Plus Manicure Booster helps to keep any nail color on for prolonged wear for me anyway.
Bronze Goddess Powder in Deep is a mostly matte with very slight shimmer bronzer in a deep terracotta color. It’s great for those with olive toned or tanned skin who want some serious bronze in their life. On darker skin it makes for a nice dose of color underneath a bold coral or pink blush for a sunkissed look, but it’s not deep enough to make much of a contour on deeper skin like mine and I feel it would turn orange on those with fair skin. This comes in three other lighter shades as mentioned above.
Bronze Goddess Luminous Liquid Bronzer is as its name would suggest, a liquid bronzer. It can be used on the legs, arms, and decolletage to add a hint of bronze shimmer. I did enjoy the glow it gave my legs, but I wish the bottle were a little bigger. A little does go a long way, but I’d be so enamored with this product I’d want to use it ALL the time once warm weather hits and would be sad that my bottle would be done in like two weeks…lol.
I also loved Pure Color Liquid Eyeliner Duo in Black Sands. The applicator on this makes applying liquid liner soooo easy as it tends to glide across the eyes. I’d buy more of this if it came in just the black shade—although the bronze liner was gorgeous, I don’t see myself using it often.
Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Fuchsia Fever is a bold fuchsia in a cream with shine finish. Just as its name suggests, it’s pretty long lasting (I got a little over 6 hours). This is a color that works best on those with cool undertones, but can work also for those with warmer undertones.
NEW Bronze Goddess Summer 2013 Collection will be available at Estée Lauder counters and EstéeLauder.com beginning March 2013.
Bottom line: Overall this was a pretty summer collection with items that perform well. If you can only get a few things from the collection, I suggest Pure Color Illuminating Gelée in Heat Wave and Pure Color Gelée Powder Eye Shadow Palette in Batik Sun. I’d also suggest the liquid liner because it has such a great applicator, but only if you’ll make use of the bronze end.
