Though I’m still deciding on how I’ll be wearing my hair as I grow my shaved side cut out, I do need to still maintain my hair’s health. If you have natural hair, know someone who has natural hair, or have ever had a conversation with someone who has natural hair, you’ll know that it can be DRY, DRY, DRY. Goodness can it get dry…lol. It’s like you have to do everything in your power aside from putting activator on your kinks to keep the hair properly moisturized. So since walking around all day with a shower cap on is not socially acceptable, a girl’s gotta come up with ways to keep her situation all moist and stuff ya know.

There’s of course a million and one ways to moisturize your hair, but what I like to do with my hair is apply leave-in conditioner while my hair is still wet and then seal it with coconut oil. Then to refresh my style throughout the week, I’ll spritz with Carol’s Daughter Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner. But now that I’ve tried Nothing But’s Curl Sealer (sent for review consideration), it’s my new favorite thing!

I’d been using it on the growing TWA formerly known as the shaved right side of my hair under my extensions to keep the hair moisturized and would notice that my hair stayed soft and supple for much longer than usual. I was all excited but knew I had to try it on my whole head so once I took the weave out, I gave it a whirl and it was all like WHY HAVEN’T I KNOWN ABOUT THIS BEFORE??? I like to use it after applying a leave-in conditioner and then I’ll take a dollop of Curl Sealer and massage it all over. And again, my hair is all hydrated and soft and unlike the painfully dry way it can get sometimes. I also love that you get a good amount of product in each container so it’s not like you stick your hand in there and it’s all done in one sitting.

And no, you won’t leave grease stains on couches like Eriq La Salle’s Soul Glo family in Coming to America.

Bottom line: If you either have problems retaining moisture in your hair or looking for a new sealer, you have to give this a try.

Price and where to buy: $7.99 for 8.8 oz, see widget below

Sometimes I think natural hair feels dry because the cuticle doesn’t feel smooth, like straight of relaxed hair. I also learned in an Avlon class that moisture is hard to create, real moisturizing products are a challenge for the chemists & that most products that claim to moisturize just sit on the hair….but I might try this on my relaxed hair because it still gets dry
