10 Minutes with Danielle: Why It’s Good to Go Shopping with Your Most Stylish Friends

Me and my girls heading out to Lucky FABB day one

For most of my shopping career, I’ve been practicing solo. Sometimes it’s just better to go shopping by yourself because there’s no one to gripe about how long you’re taking or how much you’re spending on a single item (mind your business, thank you very much! lol). But there are times when it makes sense to bring along a friend or two. Like when I was in LA last week for Lucky FABB.

First of all, the amount of outfit love one gets when around other fashion bloggers is so overwhelming it just makes a girl want to cry…

And then if you’re like me and love to shop, it’s like being reunited with a long lost twin when you’re around someone who loves to shop as much as you do. I’d already known I love to shop with Trina from The Baby Shopaholic–our shopping dates go way back to Atlanta and Chicago. But imagine my excitement when not only was Trina with me but also Aracely from Mama Fashion Files. I seriously could have cried each time I suggested going shopping and was met with the same exact enthusiasm from these ladies. I mean, yes, there weren’t any shops we went to in LA that we don’t have here in NYC (Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Topshop, H&M, Zara, Forever 21) but if you’re an avid shopper, you’ll know that different cities usually have different merchandise making it all worth the while.

Off to Lucky FABB day two

AND not only that, since the three of us have different styles, sometimes I’d see one of them pick something up that I hadn’t thought of and then I’d be salivating at the mouth to get it and try it on. I’m mostly a boyfriend jeans and blazers kinda gal, but these ladies inspired me to add more feminine and conservative elements to my wardrobe. They were also there to veto some of my probable purchases (like the $25 Topshop earrings Trina said that I could get something similar for a better price—which I did like 15 minutes later at Forever 21—see, not that I don’t know these things but sometimes my thirst gets the best of me…lol).

Here’s a few things I bought (we only had time to hit The Grove—I actually hit The Grove twice since I came in a day earlier—and the Beverly Center):

From H&M

h&m blazers

I spotted tons of blush colored pieces at Lucky FABB not to mention Aracely had a really pretty dress and jacket in the color so I had to have it…lol. I’ve been wanting an oversized blazer, too so this was perfect when I spotted it.

hm lace top

I also picked up this black lace top because it looked really cute underneath the blush blazer plus one can never have enough black lace tops.

From Anthropologie

I was obsessed with the sleeves on this laced lantern top and had to have it. It can be dressed up or dressed down.

From Bloomingdale’s

I was thisclose to picking up this BCBGMAXAZRIA white peplum top because it went so well with the BCBGMAXAZRIA blush colored flare skirt, but Trina talked me out of the blouse. It was on sale but definitely not marked down enough is what she reasoned. I had to agree and just left with the skirt…lol.

bcbgeneration maxi dress

And I grabbed this BCBGeneration maxi, but still on the fence if I want to keep it. I’ll have to play around with it and see what I can match it up with in my closet.

From Forever 21

I picked up these two pairs of coral earrings right after I was attempted to get the ones below from Topshop.

From Topshop

topshop necklaces

Because I’m totally here for the TWO CHAINS trend, I picked up these lovely necklaces (get them here and here)

I have a lot of outfit plotting to do (I also got a package in from the boohoo.com team) and hopefully I can get it together and put up some more outfit posts once I overcome my struggle…lol.

Danielle, we are shopping soul-mates! It was crazy how much fun we had. I didn’t mind that my bag was almost 20lbs over after our shopping trip! It was all worth it! Can’t wait to do it again!

OMG That white dress looks amazing on you Danielle!! Thanks for posting the outfit details. I normally shop by myself because apparently I’m the only one of my friends that likes to try clothes on before purchasing. They buy, go home try it on and then return if it doesn’t fit. Ain’t nobody got time for that! I take my time, think about how I’d add accessories from what I already own, and of course make sure it looks good on me. I’d love to shop with others who approach shopping like I do!

      Thanks, Bukky!!!

See, sometimes I like to take the time and try things on before I buy. But there’s times when I let my thirst get the best of me and I don’t have time to try on so I’ll buy and return if it doesn’t fit…lol.
