Fall officially starts in just a matter of days and if you’re looking for a new fragrance to match both your scent and fashion style, you might want to take a peek at what Kilian Fragrances has in store with the new Kilian Addicted State of Mind Collection.

Kilian quickly became my fragrance brand obsession and I have no plans of quitting…lol. For fall the brand introduces the Addicted State of Mind collection which features three new exotic scents that evoke an aura of sexiness and high fashion. The brand sent over some travel-sized samples for me to experience all three.

Intoxicated

(my fave of the three—my current absolute Kilian fave is Playing with Devil)

Notes:
rich viscous Turkish coffee
green cardamom, nutmeg & powdered cinnamon
burned caramelized sugar

This feels like a warm and sexy, intricate scent (thanks to the burned caramelized sugar) that you’ll want to wear with cozy turtleneck sweaters and leather pants with over the knee boots.

Light My Fire

light my fire kilian

Notes:
spicy tobacco leaf with dried cumin
tedded hay, earthy patchouli, vetiver
wild honey, vanilla, the almond tang of white heliotrope, creamy tonka & smoky birchwood

This is a soft yet spicy and slightly smoky blended scent that immediately makes me think of form-fitting wrap dresses and high heels.

Smoke for the Soul

smoke for the soul kilian
Notes:
psychotropic tobacco
blue eucalyptus, rosy grapefruit, cardamom, thyme and fir balsam
tobacco, birch, cashmere woods, mate tea & tagete

This is a sultry, smoky scent—I picture a woman in a form-fitting double-breasted smoking jacket with cigarette pants (I’m imaging when YSL first introduced Le Smoking tuxedo suit to the fashion world) wearing this scent.

How I pick a Kilian scent:

What I love most about Kilian fragrances is first there’s so many great ones to choose from, but they’re also very sophisticated and long-lasting. It’s a process to pick one to love, but once you find it the process is worth it. For me I like to go to either a Kilian boutique, Saks, or Bergdorf Goodman and have a rep give you a few scent cards to try out, wait for it to dry down, and see which one stands out the most. Then I’ll spray a little of the stand-out scent on something I’m wearing—usually a scarf or sweater (but the scent cards themselves hold scent for as long as a week, too) so that I can continue to experience it after I’ve left the counter and if after a week I’m still craving it, I buy it. The scents can be pricy at $250 or more for full size bottles, but they also have travel-sizes in the $100-$150 range if you don’t want to commit to a full size bottle. I spent about $250 on my Playing with the Devil and would do it again for another fave. Once you get infatuated with a scent, it can be hard to not want it…lol.

Pictured are the travel-size refills, but the full-size is its own experience even in the packaging. The box which holds the graceful flacon is one of the highlights of the entire Kilian oeuvre. Magnificently heavy and solid, this is a future heirloom made of black veined wood and bronze-finished metal and inspired by a classic vintage cigar box.

Price and where to buy:
Available September 15th for $270 at Kilian NYC Boutique, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman (plus 4% cash back when you shop with eBates), www.bykilian.com.

My teen daughter recently attended an event in which they included samples of Kilian scents in her swag bag. They all smell heavenly!!! I haven’t been able to pick a favorite.
